What car is on your mind right now?

Yeah people are finally realizing they can (almost) get the space of an SUV without the horrible mileage. Who would of thought practical would become cool.

Once I can finally afford a new car I'll almost certainly get a wagon/hatch. (Unless I can afford a Challenger 8) )

You cant tow 6000lbs with a wagon.

Thats why quite a few people dont have wagons. That and theres no third row seat.

If a wagon had a third row seat, and it looked cool, i could see that being an alternative to a stupid minivan.

Right now, anything i can get for well under $500 that is running good :p

mmMMmm LeMons!

This one, just because it is going to be VERY badass!!

I wish I had more info on it, but these pics say quite a lot on their own!

rwd or awd?!?

Not sure, I am still trying to find out more info on the project, but one thing is for sure it will be VERY fast! With a turbo that big strapped on there, it is easily a 400bhp car... mine is 389 and my turbo is not quite that big!

2008 Impreza WRX STI

2008 Impreza WRX STI

Seriously considering this car, but at $40K new and equipped I am not sold yet. Most of the drive will be a 70 mile daily commute largely 4 lane highway and then city freeway traffic. Driving conditions will be mostly dry pavement but will include some hellish snow/ice/wind/rain (occasionally all at once).

I drove the 2007 Impreza WRX STI and loved it, but passed because of the racer boy looks and what I felt was cramped interior, front and back. But the 2008 is supposed to be bigger with more room in the back because of the longer hatchback body.

Performance looks 'imprezive': 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, 60-0 in 106ft.

Still $40K new, that is entry level Acura/Lexus/Audi money round here and I promised myself I would buy used this time around. The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI isn't even in the show rooms AFAIK, so waiting for used means probably another year and likely the car will be driven pretty hard in the meantime.

Coming from someone who just ordered it...I would suggest it . I guess the determining factor would be of two things...gas milage, and usage with a family. If you don't have any worries of those two, I would tell you go for it. For the price, even though there are many cars that come cheaper and better equipped for relaxing drives and size...for the spirited driver it's no alternative.

It definately is. I put the '08 WRX at my driving position..which is about two clicks from the furthest back. I went and sat right behind, and there is a lot more room back there now.

I guess depending on your area, as of today it might be a while untill they get more batches. In the Cedar Rapids area, they got one '07 last year, and they are guessing other than the pre-orders...it might take them untill August for the next batch..so used is definately early next year at the most..

Hey...that's what mines gonna look like :D

unlikely with the engine mounted longitudinal

that doesn't mean anything.

examples:

notice how the engine is mounted longitudinal. yeah, it was FWD back in 1966.

how about a modern example?

Oh, congrats! Gas mileage isn't any worse than what I drive now, IIRC 23mpg combined? Currently single so it will be mine, all mine!

I need to go check it out, nearly hit the dealership today, but it was just too damn cold.

Here they got one 07 and so it may be a while, though the KC area may be a bit better...

Very striking, though I seem to go for silver'ish cars and blond hair/blue eyed women. Vice versa would just seem silly!

A single man, living in the city, can only be think of one safe, practical city car for the urban jungle.

Our city cars are just a bit bigger in Texas.:D

so is that the single reason why Texas has such a high motorway fatality rate? (scared of Texas)

I think Texas should just break off from the U.S.A., and then the Michigan Militia can invade it and we can have 2 Michigans, would be so much better that way :p

The Honda Civic. I'm intrigued by the interior.
