Knight Rider: Fears, Hopes, Concerns?

Well I'm watching it right now...

...shameless Ford plugging at it's finest is all I gotta say so far:mrgreen:

I saw a Chevy (without the badge) and a side of an Nissan....so yeah Ford plugging.

Why didn't they use an Expedition for the bad guys? Because they were bad guys?

Yep, cause what better way to promote Ford while demoting Chevy than having an Escalade crash head on into a puny Mustang, only to have the Escalated be mangled and the Stang be unscathed?

All in all, it was a bit better than I expected, but I still like the old one better. I don't get how they got through a 2 hour long special without using Turbo Boost, though.

By the way, dunno if anyone else noticed, but there is a serious continuity error in the stunt he did right at the end after getting off the plane. In the shot, it shows the car rolling back out of the plane, and then rolling forward on the runway. It cuts to some crappy CGI showing KITT going forward pretty fast and then doing an e-brake turn. While he's still moving forward, the camera cuts to the other side with real footage, showing KITT going in reverse and doing a J-turn in entirely the opposite directly. I don't think I've seen worse editing even in the original show.

I think this quote from Jalopnik summs it up best.

10:27:16 PM Hardigree: Actually, gotta give Ford credit. They found a show and a script that both appeals to people with bad taste and will be watched, ironically, by people who think they have good taste.

I didnt think it was that bad, actually. Time dulls the memory - most people that are complaining about this show and were fans of the original show need to go get a reality check at YouTube. :)

They even managed to completely ruin the theme song..

Dunno... They have to de-douche the new Mike and turn up the hotness on the main girl.
It wasn't as bad as I expected, less trashier. In a way that is a good thing, because if you watch one of the originals, you'll see the definition of trash. They need to work on their CGI though, cause the color warping sequenze looked like I made it..

The car doesn't look as bad as the Jay Leno Vid suggested, but I guess dark and fast shots can do that. I still don't like the"Speed car" with the black rims. On a sidenote: Shouldn't you have less wing for a higher Top Speed? lol...

Downloading now :)
Fucking loved KR as a kid. I mean... a car that talks and drives by itself? How can you not like that?! :p Later as an adult, whenever I think of it I am 100% sure K.I.T.T had more BaLLs than Michael. I'm not expecing much from this new version. Just wanna see out of curiosity, how whoring for money can ruin one of the best TV shows of the eighties. I'm keeping an open mind though. :|

42 mins in I just could not take any more. Acting ain't good, the script ain't good. I am not cynical enough to say the original was better just think we expect more from TV in the 21st century. To sum up just plain boring.

Just watched it and I actually liked it. Yeah i know the acting was bad and the story was pretty shit, but for car based action it was well and truly acceptable. I guess you could say I like it for the same reason I watch every Fast and Furious movie. I know its shit, but maybe I just like subjecting myself to it for the cars. Hey, maybe one day someone will make a decent car based action TV series/movie if we watch them all.

I liked it and the reason is obvious.
These days everything on TV is realitybullshit. I guess it just shhows how fucking horrible realityTV is if a movie like this can be called good. It isn't THE WORST movie though. I have seen worse... much worse.

Things they need to change.
1. Better CGI. It looks like a a 3-year-old made it.
2. Acting was not what it should be... they should focus on acting.
3. Mike looks too cute to be macho.
4. The truck scenes, this time plane scenes, right before Knight Rider goes on a mission is for flirting only! i.e NO KISSING.

PS. Freking hell The Hoff looked weird. Not old, not ugly, just weird. :|

A few more tips:

If you owe a gangster $90,000, it's a good idea to get a cash advance on your credit card and play Texas Hold 'em in a Las Vegas casino.
FBI agents prefer the Ford Escape.
A Ford Edge can keep up with a Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang.
Because of its excellent brakes, the Ford Edge is a pretty good car if you are about to get in a head-on collision with a big rig.
Real-time satellite imagery is a great addition to GPS.
A solar add-on can boost the mileage of the Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang to 167 mpg.
If someone is shooting at you, make sure the computer is on.
Don't bother shaving, even if you are going to your mother's funeral.

K.I.T.T is all about high tech. ^_^

That's a good one. :D

Downloading now, but my ISP has fucked up the connection and download is very slow. :(

I liked it somehow, it was funny because it was ..... well, not BAD, but....entertaining. And the Plane scene, WTF? as well as I absolutely love the headlight wing in the speed kitt :D

Got it now, but only watched the start atm. liked it so far, especially this bit:

You shot the vacuum cleaner!

Nice to see they got the original KITT there too :)

Looking forward to watching the rest of it, KR was always right up my street. :D

I just finished watching. While I didn't necessarily agree with using the retro-styled Mustang, the way they introduce KITT makes sense. It's kind of like Doc Brown using a DeLorian, the Mustang is cheap, readily available and blends in - much like the TransAm did with the original series.

As for the shot itself, I kind of like the direction but my main concern is the heavy use of CG. CGI gets very expensive, it's part of what killed Firefly, it sunk the original Battlestar Gallactica and it also killed that trans-continental race show last year with Nathan Fillion. If they can't tone down the CGI they will never make it through the first season.

Other than that, I think it stays fairly true to the original. It's still kind of campy and a bit contrived, but so was the original show.

I was waiting for them to jump over something. In the original the show couldn't end until they jumped KITT.

How much fun do you think they had destroying the GMC Yukon by crashing it into the Mustang and having the Mustang unscathed (and not even displaced - Take that Newton!)

The CG was by far the worst part. The scenes where the car "morphs" made me CRINGE. On top of that, the Mustang looked like it was straight out of Forza 2. I expect better CG than what I get from my X360.
