Farewell to the F-117

Have we nerfed the avionics and weapons systems of those? I sure hope so.

I doubt it makes a difference anymore. There are plenty of other countries willing to sell/do electronic stuff in this connected day and age. (countries like Israel, France, Russia etc. come to mind)

70's tech? Who really cares? :)

The avionics have seen constant upgrades and more are already in the pipe. The F-15 is a dynamic aircraft capable of many modifications and upgrades to keep it competitive.

Strike Eagle...so hot.

You should see my bookshelf, it's loaded with reference material on all kinds of things - mostly military.

No home library is complete without at least couple Jane's books.:)

I need more of Jane's - Right now I just have ships.

My library of Jane's isn't that much either. I have three recognition guides (Tanks/Aircraft/Warships) that I liberated from a family member a few years ago.

I have a Military & Civil Aircraft encyclopaedia of some rare(as in not well known) looking publisher tho i cant find any reference online, but some great stuff, all the way back to 1909 :D

Thanks, I'll keep my eye open for that one.

Oh man, I read that book back in high school, my Social Studies teacher had a copy. I found one with a different cover in a used bookstore here in Calgary, but they wanted like $90 for it. :(

ahh i love this plane

pretty funky considering it popped out of the 70's.... i didnt think they'd have the computing power to fly a plane like that because it no a typical aircraft shape really. was it this thing that had 4 levels of redundancy on the controls?

I believe most modern military aircraft have at least three levels of redundancy for all the critical systems. Losing a billion dollar aircraft because a grand of equipment failed would be pretty embarrassing.

Thought I'd show what I'm reading :D

I think it's a great enyclopedia, very good images and statistics to go along with the information of aircraft and wars they were involved with.
