So who pays Jeremy and the gang's salary, anyway? Aren't there sponsors and commercials as well? Or are there no car companies in the commercials? I don't know, since the shows we watch have them cut out...

In the UK, you have to pay yearly for a TV license. thus no commericials, which is nice because you get 13-15 minutes more viewing time.

I agree with Jay Leno's comment. The NBC Gear will probably suck. Look at Fifth Gear, when they try to immitate Top Gear's format it failed miserably. TG is something that rarely happens. The lack of sponsor so they can bash the cars, the big budget, the hosts' chemistry, and the variety of cars that Europe get that we don't. These are factors that made TG great, and the NBC Gear doesn't have any. So even if the American audience don't know about TG, when they see a show that sucks, they will still recognize it.
