But you were going for the effect as if you were actually there 90 years ago. And show me a pic from the 1910s that had such low noise. :p

Nah, not really. I mean, I think the b&w image better suits the actors and the mood, but I wasn't going for the "authentic" look. And film has grain, not noise :p

If you want, send me a PM with your email and I'll give you an excellent Photoshop plugin that does fantastic film conversions with very realistic grain.

Alien skin? And thanks, but I'll manage without it :) Haven't really had the need to add grain to my photos. I guess I'll leave the grain to b&w film ;)

No problem, just though I'd offer. I use it because I'm not always carrying a film camera in a situation that suddenly demands HP5. ;)

I like the fisheye effect, more so when used with panos, but that is still a cooler picture than if it was all straight.

It came out a bit blurry... I think I'm gonna have to invest in a zoom lens soon given most of my pics are closeups and macro shots. Or maybe it's the subject being naturally blurry.

Anyone know what these are called?

^ Aha, it seems like you're right... I never knew what they were called even though I got mine so long ago.

Sadly Wikipedia's pictures are a lot cooler than mine. :(

I try not to use the fisheye that much but sometimes I just have to!

Wow, nice shot! When I was there the widest lens I had was a 17mm... but your shot really captures the scene well, good job!

It seems like that shot was taken at 1/13 of a second, at 55mm. Unless you're using a tripod, you're pretty much bound to get a blurry picture with those settings!

^ Hey! Long time no see...

I tried it with a tripod but still just as blurry. It can't possibly focus though since the lightning bolts or whatever they are move way too fast.

^^That's the bridge in Lucerne? Sure looks like it. Beautiful part of Switzerland.

Tried manual focus? Or bumping the f/ a few stops down? Might end up with a cool effect, since it'll have to be a longer exposure.

Hi guys! I just got a new lens and figure now might be a good time to join in on this thread.

Anyways another option might be to get a lens with VR (in my case I was using a Sigma 18-200 OS HSM). I was a skeptic about IS/VR/OS until I tried it, but the stuff really works! This is at 200mm, 1/8s handheld. EXIF info left intact if anyone's interested.

I feel so lazy, I'm finally getting into shots I took last July just because I didn't want to fully sift through the 1000 or so shots from my last trip abroad...

BTW: Wasn't there a size limit on pictures for this thread at one time?
