New Caterham Superlight R500

No, in this one instance I agree with you. I know a car like this isn't supposed to be a looker or have a nice interior... but at least the Ariel Atom or the various crazy Lotuses look cool, whereas the Caterham looks old and substantially boring.
The basic body design is pretty old (Lotus 7 came out 50 years ago). But like the more traditional Morgans, the old design is part of the appeal. There are TONS of Lotus Seven or Seven-type replicas for a reason.

so simple.. yet so beautiful...

:woot:

^ Absolutely hideous! Dear God, please don't let this be a taste of where Caterham is headed.

Here is why. If i want one that will handle, what is wrong with the regular one? Its not exactly porky. If I want one really fast, I'll slap a huge V8 in it and make a rocket ship.

Autocar has driven it, and apparently it's brilliant...

Should I buy one?
Yes. Admittedly it?s is a lot to pay for a Caterham without a roof, but it is just ?3005 more than the old R500, eight years on. Even faster, more flexible, more reliable and better value? The R500 is not just back; it?s better in every respect.
