Top Gear [NOT] Back June 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, looks like im the only one who isnt particularly bothered by the new season!

If its like some of the newer seasons then.... (although the lastest season was a lot better than I was expecting!)

*runs!*

You're posting on a TG forum and you're not bothered by the new season :?

I think they have gotten better and better as the years go by. I have slowly made my way through almost the entire 10 seasons (in order, I need to get a life) over the last two months and they have gotten better. I know that a few people on here do not like the 'specials' and the 'challenges' and would prefer to see actual reviews on cars, but I love the specials and season 10, ep 4 TG In Africa - among my favourite episodes.

They certainly have come a long way.

Ditto.

After watching the first series on SBS and then watching series 8, you can see the huge difference there is between the two series.
I do agree that it keeps getting better and better, but i really hope they keep reviewing more cars in series 11.
Can't wait until June!

^ Sorry, I'm gonna have to disagree. You shouldn't be comparing it to series 1. I think the general consensus is that series 5/6 were the best, and indeed, compared to the recent series (minus the last) they were definitely better.

But then again, I'm an actual petrolhead. I get my general cocking about entertainment elsewhere. ;)

It really sucks now that the fan base is divided by the people who watch it for the laughs and people who watch it for cars and we all end up disagreeing with one another.

I think series 5 and 8 were the best. I think of the more serious series 10 as being like Casino Royale, not as outrageous as other Bond movies, but still cool.

I agree - as the series has evolved (with the tastes and interests of Jeremy Clarkson - he's made it clear he's not that interested in 'average cars' in that sense anymore in his various columns) into more of an entertainment show that features cars - but mainly only super cars - so the fan base has split down the middle.

You have the petrol head fans who like the cars, the reviews etc... and you have everyone else who likes the cocking about, the entrainment and the fun stuff.

I'm in the latter group.

Fackin' awesome news y0!

What's better on a warm summer's Sunday than putting on TG, sitting back and having a few drinks?

F1.

But it's good to hear TG is back, great news for me.

True, true. I am all for the latter as well, for sheer entertainment value, but on saying that I love their car reviews. I think the show just needs to be made longer to fit both in :p

i watch it mostly for the cars.. but ey.. some laughs aint all that bad..

I swear I read it as June the 5th in my excitement.

thats great news but heres the thing. if it starts in the middle of june then there might only be 8 shows and if the football effects it, then it may only be six. Then of course you've got the one in the fall. That might start in november and be only six shows as well.

I think the bbc need there heads banging together and realise that they should have started the new series in may like it use to be.

Starting in June might have been at the request of the schedulers - something to fill Sunday evenings in the difficult summer months - when its only shows with a massive hardcore fanbase that actually tend to do well.

It might also be the plan to reduce it to two series of six - don't forget most British shows are six episode long series with one series a year - so twelve episodes a year is still a LOT for a British show (with the exception of really big budget dramas like Doctor Who and Spooks anyway).

It might also be the case that they're reducing the number of episodes to cover the cost of moving to HD - or this might all be hot air and we'll still get 8 episodes.

The football WON'T affect Top Gear so if it starts on 15 June thats:

15 June - episode one
22 June - episode two
29 June - episode three
6 July - episode four
13 July - episode five
20 July - epsiode six
27 July - episode seven
3 August - episode eight

That would work out fine with the next series starting in November so:

16 November - one
21 November (Children in Need - might see a special)
30 November - two
7 December - three
14 December - four
21 December - five
28 December (christmas special)
11 January - six
18 January - seven

Just an idea though :) Speculating on the internet about television shows is about as useful and accurate as ... well something not particularly useful or accurate.
