The End Of An Era:'s Main Site Retired, Forums Will Live On

Shame it happened. I've not been an active member but I've shadowed the site as well as the forum for a long time. Thanks for making it happen Viper and thank all you members for showing me that there are others with similar addictions to mine :)

Loved it enough to give it a 9. Not very happy with the guest and news bit... but other than that everything was tip top. Particular highlight for me was calling the Maserati's cornering as tidy as a marine's bunk. I like Jezza's overdone wording but sometimes it's nice to see him be sensible...

    Opinions on Jonny Smith?

I like him, he's nerdy in just the right way. He bores the pants off me when he talks about the old junk he loves so much but I find his reviews more interesting than VBH's who seems like an overgrown teen-age girl lately.

It's come to the point where I'm watching Fifth Gear with a sadistic urge to see them fail. This episode is actually pretty brilliant on paper (and in the intro) but then rather messes up: Nurburgring star challenge - great on paper, but it failed. Tiff overdid the making fun of the "non-speed...

So Top Gear lied about Tesla?

I can't believe this is still going on... I thought the review was a fair one. I've read plenty of material on the Tesla Roadster from various other sources and the general consensus is that while it's a nice try it doesn't quite stack up, particularly under performance driving. Let's not get...

Clarkson mentions coming to India for christmas special

I wouldn't be so sure that they actually buy the cars from India... if they do I hope they get some old Rover Montego diesel and other boxy rubbish like that which helps enjoyment of the climate to the fullest :))

I never felt so much hate on a forum. I think I just got my first taste and it's almost pleasurable. Really, that last segment had the makings of a great bit and Hammond's remark with the vet crying simply was a cheap shot. That's what ruined the whole thing for me. Asking somebody maimed in...

6 I've just stopped watching it. I remember the awesome Aventador, the pretty interesting EV clip and how Hammond asked a stupid question that made a former soldier cry. Apart from that, most of the show was dull and got me thinking at several points: what are they on about?

I just loved it to bits. James is epic with a moustache, finding out that you can buy a tank for just 20 grand seems amazing, the Interceptor intro was fun and well, you can't really not like military stuff.

Wholehearted 10. I do hope they V12 monsters are reliable. If it were me, I would've probably settled for something like a BMW 320-330.

    Most expensive Top Gear segments?

I recall when they did the summary on season 3 that Jezza said the Harrier race was "hugely expensive". Perhaps Hammond taking on the Eurofighter in the Veyron (2 Veyrons were there...) could have been quite the costly affair.

    Most expensive Top Gear segments?

Definitely the trip to France with the F430, Zonda and GT40. Even though it was Jezza's car, the fuel bill easily outweighed the costs of making that rocket out of the Robin. On a more serious note I'd say the road repair segment was a pretty costly one. It is absurdly expensive to do...

9/10 It was a very good episode. I was however let down by how Hammond killed off a 156. Also, not very fond of how Jeremy associated the 1 Series M Coupe with the Golf. I liked the segment but I didn't find it right somehow. I know subjectivity exists out there, but on something like this I...

    Top Gear's Soviet Cars bit

Not quite, the car driven by Andy is registered as LAZ 8568 whereas the one May drove was LAZ 8583. Very similar, not the same. Unless registration plates change every year in Britain (not familiar with law on that there) we're talking about two cars that were registered remarkably close to...
