I had the local garage guy weld the end of the rocker, swap a shock mount and a front ARB link and take a look a the brakes. The rear drums needed new cylinders and brake lines as everything was falling to pieces, and the front brake is still dragging enough to make the car fail a MOT re-show...

Volkswagen admits car ad racist, apologizes

Of course people see in it what they want to see, but the letters in the words DER NEUE GOLF had the letters N E G E and R displayed first...

I did pay 15 euros to have it for the afternoon, so maybe the term isn't quite correct :D

Have an electro-Up! as a courtesy car while the Mercedes is getting a control arm replaced for MOT. Will report back.

One option for front shocks is the Koni STR.T non-adjustable shock that was introduced as a budget option. They're apparently a little spordy but since they have no adjustability, I'm not so sure how much they offer over the Sachs Supertourings that are already fitted on the car. But yeah, at...

Alright! I managed to score something very special from eBay: a pair of NOS, yellow Koni Sports for the rear of the car. These were 100GBP for the pair, which makes them cheaper than any no-name brand I could source. Really looking forward to getting them fitted. Obviously this is only...

Unverified Ownership Les Undesirables - 2000 Citroën Xsara 1.6i Berline

Spare hatch is on. Drove to the parts contact with no hatch on at all and lifted it in place on the spot and redid the bolts. Even after adjustment, fitment is ambitious but it'll do for now. Using a facelift hatch is slightly problematic as the locks are different. I had to redrill a bunch of...

Swapped the camcover gasket so at least one of the advisories on the sheet should be taken care of :D Sadly, no other progress on the rap sheet was made today as the greasepit was occupied the whole day by a poorly E61 530d. Blocked DPF by the looks of it. I also couldn't get the replacement...

Amazingly I might have found a silver hatch tailgate in the small town where I dumped the car for the time being. It's from a facelift car so there will be some parts-swapping to be done to make the trunk lock work, but as long as it closes and stays closed it's going to be fine.

We had a discussion over at Telegram about engine availability tied to model variants. What nice cars do you remember that didn't get the nice engine in the wagon version? For instance: 405 Mi16 was sedan-only, as was the Taurus SHO...

There was also the C4 Aircross, which was an ASX in disguise. Not great. https://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/head-to-head--mitsubishi-asx-v-citroen-c4-aircross-2nff6
