I'll catch up to Tuesday as well, so I'll get something going. Attending was a very late decision this year, as lacking full vaccination status made traveling a bit of a chore, not to mention expensive from here. But with the donation program needing transport help and travel situation staying at least consistent, I made my bookings less than a week before roadtrip started. Rental reservation was at least very flexible, but timing for antigen test and flight made the day before takeoff a long one as well.
Early takeoff. After nice 2 hours of sleep I was off at 3AM, just in case as I had no idea if there are some extra effort needed at the airport. Actual check-in at the desk at least, to show ze test papers.
But at least the road (and sky) was clear
When arriving to the airport I noticed that Lufthansa had failed to provide me with their fly&rail ticket I had bought and the 40min I had before boarding wasn't enough to get through the customer service call. This ended up me spending double the money and double the connections to get to Thomas' garage. And straight away the Peugeot greeted me with some issues.
This was slightly bigger issue though. And quickly corrected by a quick fix, so I could get on the road. The broken muffler had a nice raspy sound, but unfortunately not that audible inside the car unless there were houses or railings for the sound to bounce from.
Quick fuel stop. Looking at that tent and then my 150eur paper, providing the same exact info..
Roadtrip setup, which unfortunately didn't work out, as the power socket wasn't working correctly. It ended up breaking two of my charger, which then blew fuses in
@lip Audi and my own car, when returning home..
First of many to visit some random people within this week..
So that was Saturday. On Sunday, I joined in on working with some overcomplicated car.
Before driving through some Black forests to meet rest (or most) of the roadtrip crew in Stuttgart. Similar plan as
@lip, although I just drove past our hotel and I also stayed in the forest for longer, to get around some traffic jams. It's not an autobahn car by any measure anyway. After having a cracking time parking, some soothing beer was acquired.
As the other Peugeot needed fuel, we stopped for some after leaving the restaurant and spotted a nice Lambo.
After driving to the hotel, I managed to miss the parking lot and ended up leading our convoy up the hill, as it's not really a road you do turn on. But at least the view was nice at the turn around point. In the mean time others had found a terrace/bar at the village centre, which was closing "soon" for like two hours.
Evening view of the hotel from the lower, slightly more easily accessible parking lot
As often tends to happen on these trips, I was up early on Monday, so I went for a morning walk. Hotel view from the opposite side of the hill. A village cat seemed genuinely confused that there was somebody walking around and kept following my actions for a good while.
After returning to the hotel for breakfast and Audi saving efforts, some cleaning person attacked the 106 windows, to make driving it a bit less dangerous, as they were rather clouded over by dirt. And then it was left at the parking lot, as I got to drive the Compact of said cleaning person to the museum.
Fortunately the hill wasn't steep or anything. Nice place to be stuck.
Wondering how 10 cylinders fit in front of the front axle
The museum needs its own thread. You know there's plenty of stuff, when there are several halls and you still have to stack stuff.
I could've spent more time there, but as I didn't have my own car I had to rush out to catch last of our crew heading out and got to drive a Teslerr back to the hotel. A dinner was reserved at a restaurant next to the bar we were in the previous night. A very nice pizza and some great chocolate dessert was had, before returning to the hotel.
Tuesday morning and I was out on a morning walk again. Spotted some peregrine falcons here as well, which was rather nice. This was also a dog training ground and there were signs warning about your jogging pace when there's a training session..
Some cripple in the trees.
Full round of vehicles gathered, for the promise of a more full driving day.
A view from the back. For some reason I was always left in the back, not sure why..
Scouting around for photo spots for the Porsche. Which soon proved it can do quite steep approach angles, for what it is.
Pictures of people taking pictures of course.
Invading the Unimog museum
The state of life I'm in. Noticed some nice decorative flowering trees and took a picture for research.
Roadtrip feel, even if nothing was wrong, really.
Size/price comparison
Lightweights
I was driving people to/from town on previous nights, but got to walk down on Tuesday. And of course I didn't take any pictures, but I rather liked the mood of this village. And I'm always envious of the availability of public transport in German countryside.
After dinner our hotel reserved a secret terrace for us, to hang around for a bit without bothering too many guests. Plenty of Cock..ta around the table.
