Yeah, I plan to Dremel down the endlinks to minimize the tension. I've switched it to a rubber strap for the summer anyway so the lugs are safe for now.

Turned plenty of heads and induced many "that's a manual?!" double-takes at Greenwich. And got spotted by Mike Spinelli! https://www.instagram.com/p/CeY5N86uYgJ/

Slapped a Speidel Twist-o-Flex on my Chopard. Looks interesting; we’ll see how long it takes for the novelty to wear off.

So the reason I took those pictures was to apply for entry into the Radwood Royalty section of the Greenwich Concours on 6/4, and I got in! Now time to put together an obnoxious yuppie outfit.

Had a brainwave: tag winter wheels with strips of velcro to mark which corner of the vehicle they came from so that I can rotate (or not) correctly once it's time to mount them again.

I can't tell if it's just time, age, or the fact that I own one now, but the Dame Edna 9-5s are finally starting to look good to me.

Damn, I've had terrible luck not being able to join these, and unfortunately this one is no exception. Roll on June I guess.

Yeah that's pretty crazy. It feels like the watch equivalent of the BMW V10 engine in the E60 M5: finely tuned to insane specifications, but likely to be an absolute pain to keep serviced and in tip-top shape. And yes, Watchfinder is great; people on this particular forum will enjoy this video...

Just masked them off, though I did take them off the car first. To be fair, this was taken on an old iPad camera, so it is hiding some flaws in the finish. The guy at Autozone did mention that this Rustoleum stuff isn't as thick as Plasti-dip, for better or worse. I just need to be careful with...

The whole all-black look was turning out to be a bit too much for me, so I sprayed the wheels silver using Rustoleum's version of Plasti-Dip. Looks pretty good, apart from the scratches in the finish where I got clumsy with my impact wrench.

    Best of eBay and Craigslist

Huh, the 2.3s of that generation were naturally aspirated so it'd be unimpressive to begin with. They'd made Toppolas since the days of the 99 so being careful to not overload the rear suspension was a specialty of theirs.

    Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

One nice thing about having a car that's been through an enthusiast auction site is that I can be extremely lazy and copy the VIN from that listing whenever I need it.

Stories like yours, conversely, make me want to hold out on adaptive cruise as long as possible so I don't end up making it a habit and have trouble re-adapting to older cars. Then again I could say the same thing about automatic transmissions, and so far I haven't had a huge problem switching...
