US to require automatic emergency braking systems on new cars.

Humans aren't perfect, let alone the average driver. Having a second layer of protection to reduce the impact of the human flaws on others is a good idea.

US to require automatic emergency braking systems on new cars.

Having a car crash into you is more intrusive. I'm carless as we speak because of no AEB, not the inverse.

Good. I'd still have my Z4 if this was the default earlier.

Someone Else's Problem: Srs Bsns, Volume 3

That's even more true than you thought - the old car was contracted for 30 months to potentially have another winter sans cabrio, the new car will be contracted for 36 months because the timing is now bad for skipping a winter.

Someone Else's Problem: Srs Bsns, Volume 3

Supply and demand. The Austrian factory doesn't make other BMW models, so they can't shift over capacity... and the Z4 isn't really en vogue. When we ordered the original one in October for an April 1st delivery the dealer had to artificially delay production to avoid having the car sit in his...

Someone Else's Problem: Srs Bsns, Volume 3

I'm fine, the killing aspect is cracks in the gearbox casing/mounting, apparently the exhaust system got pushed into the 'box... Quite a dear spare part 😰 the appraiser's listing of parts was about seven pages. I'm completely fine, luckily the GTI inside the roundabout stopped when I got pushed...

Someone Else's Problem: Srs Bsns, Volume 3

Welp, those were short three weeks / 2000km... Over a month ago I stopped at a roundabout due to traffic, a lady behind me didn't... Until she did, abruptly. The powers that be decided it's not getting fixed, lease is being terminated and the remains are heading back to BMW. New order is pending...

If 17h charging were correct it's more in the 20000mph ballpark ... It's the SpaceX edition.

The Aviation Thread [Contains Lots of Awesome Pictures]

Had my first "is there a doctor onboard?" moment a few days ago 😬 apparently someone collapsed during climbing, not sure how it turned out... Either very good or very bad, we did continue the 1.5h flight instead of pulling a U-turn right there and then 🤷‍♂️ were greeted by EMS at arrival.

More a nice snack... Lamb cold cuts in curry, delish cheese, gipfeli, dessert. One let-down, they didn't use the twenty minutes waiting for French ATC for drinks :shakefist: The return will be quite different, E195 & A220 🤏

Correction: Not a wood chipper but rather a handful of men in safety goggles pouring out can by can, watched by a customs officer :lmao: full video here: https://www.champagne.fr/en/additional-information/media/champagne-press/protected-designation-origin-destruction-beer-cans
