    Where In The World Is..?

I wonder whether there's some way to order via @BlaRo so he gets a cut!

    Last movie you saw?

Midsommar. No matter whether you see it as a meditation about trauma, abusive relationships and how to overcome those or as a more straight "rural cult" horror movie like the original Wicker Man, this is an amazing film. The story is as straight as it gets: After her sister killed herself and...

The Trump Presidency - how I stopped worrying and learned to love the Hair

The fact that you include Shuttleworth, who has no connection to the USA at all, but is a very proud South African who, like Jeremy Clarkson, doges taxes by living on the Isle of Man, shows that you are grasping at straws. But apart from that.... Let's start with Oprah and Dre, who even if they...

The Trump Presidency - how I stopped worrying and learned to love the Hair

If I tell you to check your privilege you will call me an SJW, but still - these are the words of a very privileged person that one could also translate as "as long as I am winning, fuck women's rights, fuck minorities, fuck refugees, fuck our allies, fuck the rest of the world".

Ownership Verified: Meet Karl - 1974 Opel Rekord

Compared to a three-speed autobox, the thing will feel like a rocket even with the longer rear axle.

TWO conversions because Karl's drivetrain will go into the Finnish car to be sold on - minimizing losses.

In the long run, the Manta B/Rekord E 5-speed Getrag would of course be the perfect choice. Sadly, these gearboxes are rare and super expensive, so a four-speed manual already will be a huge step up from the three-speed autotragic. Also, going from 1.7 to 1.9 means a longer rear end ratio...

    Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

I don't want to go fully political here but sometimes it feels like this: "WE ARE THE SILENT MAJORITY THAT HAS BEEN OPPRESSED BY LIBERAL ELITES TOO LONG! NOW WE HAVE FOUND OUR VOICE AND WILL INSULT AND BELITTLE YOU AS WE LIKE".

Ownership Verified: Meet Karl - 1974 Opel Rekord

Quick update - after the carb re-tune, the car ran perfect for about a week - until we took it on a 200 km Autobahn blast. The heat warped the carb's lid once again and everything went to shit. Using some glue to fix the carb lid screws solved that - or so we hoped. Running behind @_Jules_ on...

    Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

I think the posts from @Beni , @Redliner and @public pretty much sum it up. It's no fun posting here anymore because every topic will boil down to either "US vs. Europe" or "Immigrants vs. Natives" // "Socialists vs. hard-working people" (aka Obama vs. Trump) and it just sucks the lifeblood out...

@public as mentioned earlier, Mk2 Golf diesel (non-turbo) fits the bill perfectly.

    Star Trek: Picard

I think Star Trek 4 is pretty solid as far as eco-conscious comedy goes. EDIT: AFAIK Nimoy got the director's role on ST:4 as a condition of him coming back as Spcok, so ST:5 was about letting Shatner direct in order to treat him equl to Nimoy. That was the film's only purpose, and it shows.

    Star Trek: Picard

I mean the 2001-ish Enterprise with Scott "Quantum Leap" Bacula as Captain Archer. Your feeling basically echoes the sentiment of the article linked above.

    Star Trek: Picard

Watching the discarded pilot really helps with Discovery. It gives an in-timeline glimpse at the OMG THEY ARE GOING TO THALOS IV moment you got having watched all Trek before. EDIT: Also, the timeline in the article moves Enterprise almost all the way to the end; probably because it played fast...

    Star Trek: Picard

Discovery slots in between the first pilot ("The Cage" feat. Pike - not broadcast in the 60s) and proper Kirk TOS. Since Discovery heavily relies on Talos IV and the things that happen there, this distinction is important.
