    the Interceptor's general AUDIO thread

Well, I haven't found another amp/DAC or stack with comparable specs and consistently good reviews in the price range as the Asgard 3, so I've ordered one. The wallet felt that, but there's a good chance I won't ever need another headphone amp (though I might add a high-end DAC at some point).

Nice work! Illogically, I quite like these little things too.

Is that 850 Canadian moneys? It's $700 here. Still overpriced, IMO. It's big, but the price to piece count ratio isn't great. Usually ~4700 pieces would be about $500 US. Even the giant Millenium Falcon sticks fairly close to the usual ratio of roughly $100 per 1000 pieces.

Check and see if it had one from the factory first. Many transmission pans don't use a gasket. They use ATF-rated RTV isntead. Don't use just any RTV; the extra detergents and stuff in ATF will eat through regular RTV.

Do it anyway. You won't regret it. As much as I'm into the car sets, the Saturn V might just be the coolest set they've ever done.

    the Interceptor's general AUDIO thread

Does anyone have any recommendations on a desktop headphone amp/DAC? My current amp just died :( It's irreparable and the company that made it no longer makes audio equipment. I'm considering the current Schiit Asgard with one of the DAC modules included. I'm open to about any suggestions...

Ownership Verified: Polishing a turd. 1973 GMC Sprint, with a side of XJ

Today was Work-on-the-Jeep Day. I did actually get the steering wheel back on the Sprint last night. I even went for a little drive. It needs tuning, but that will have to wait until next weekend. Two main jobs on the Jeep today. Three if you count changing the gear oil in both axles. Job #1...

    Toyota Supra 2019

I'd take the Z4 over this any day, even with the significant price premium for the 6-cylinder version. I saw a Z4 last week and it actually looks good, unlike this monstrosity.

Very small update today. I pulled the steering wheel off about 2 months ago to give it a good cleaning. The plasticizer seeping out of the '70s GM rubbery plastic creates a nasty syrup-like goo that makes the steering wheel sticky and disgusting to touch, and stains clothes. I used to keep a...

Temps today were below 90 so I got off my butt and got the brakes done. Out with the old. It still worked, but for how much longer? I'm pretty sure it is the original master cylinder, which would make it about 46 years old. This looks like crap but it still works, so it stays. If it dies, at...

Ownership Verified: Polishing a turd. 1973 GMC Sprint, with a side of XJ

I was indeed lazy yesterday and didn't get anything done, but today I got the rear brakes back together with new wheel cylinders. I haven't cared too much about making the old parts look pretty. Goal #1 is simply to get it driving (safely). Anything beyond that will involve body work, and if I...

I was able to make a little more progress today. I had a minor medical procedure last week that prevented any work for a few days (no worries, nothing big at all), and I've become a wimp when it comes to working in temperatures over 100F. Temperatures dropped a few degrees and I got home from...

    LS3 Hot start issue

Get a mechanic's stethoscope and see if you tell exactly where on the engine the noise is coming from. That will greatly narrow down what it is. There are many things it could be, but probably not a bad bearing; that should make noise whether the engine is hot or cold. Could be a lifter going...

I didn't get much done on Tuesday as I'd hoped; I decided to wait for a pressure washer to be delivered and give things a good spray-down before doing much more. But, there was some slight progress yesterday. New parts! There are a few odds and ends missing from the picture, but it's boring...
