    Where In The World Is..?

I have been busy with work/new clients, some local/personal issues and dealing with massive family fallout from my dad turning out to be an unrepentant serial cheating asshat who managed to irrefutably out his cheating through his own stupidity. Lots and lots and lots of fallout from that, I’ll...

Some Arris modems have software issues with routing data. Internet/WAN to LAN routing is fine, but LAN to LAN is a problem - abnormally low transfer speed, sometimes high local latency, etc. Over here, cable providers using some Arris units turn the Wifi on the modem off and provide a separate...

BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

The UK/US media that I saw were predicting a giant tsunami of younger voters. At *best* ('best' in this case meaning that it was closest to reality) were predictions that it was 'too close to call.' One disclaimer - I had to reduce my consumption of UK election coverage since around Thanksgiving...

BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

Corbyn's already resigned from leadership as of this morning and said he will not stand for any further leadership posts in Labour. Dunno about the rest of his merry Red band, though. Didn't you just finish saying that the Remainers, not the Unionists, now hold the majority of MP slots from NI...

BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

I didn't say the "glorious" part applied to any of the above items you listed. Watching the hubris of the biased media as their gleefully reported predictions came to grief on the rocks of reality was what was glorious. No more or less. Whether you were a Remainer or a Brexiteer, an impartial...

BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

Personally, I think that whether the UK left the EU or remained, it should have worked out a deal with the Irish government to reunify Northern Ireland with the rest of the island with protections for the Protestants, etc., and left. The UK does not need to be in Ireland and there's no real...

BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

Scotland's going to be an interesting question - aside from any political considerations, the UK has several critical military facilities in Scotland that they can't replace/move in a timely fashion. That said, the Scots had an independence referendum as recently as 2014 and the answer was "no"...

Walmart has apparently decided that they only want to carry 'hunting rifle' ammo and shotgun ammo. The silver lining is that they're starting to blow out their other ammo at bargain basement prices. Source...

    Holden axes Commodore

The ecobox market in the US isn't that great, though - look at Ford discontinuing all of their ecoboxen due to lack of sales, look at the tanking sales of the Accent, the Versa and the Yaris. Nissan's problems are more due to mismanagement and less due to product.

Doesn't seem to be stopping Hyundai/Kia, Toyota, or Nissan from building similarly priced mid to large sedans in the US and selling quite a few of them.

They're not selling now, but back in 2011? There were a lot more buyers and the CUV hadn't taken over yet. Remember all the people bemoaning the loss of the Crown Vic in 2011? Producing the things in North America would have cut down on costs to the NA market, too.

    1. See the part in my post above about replacing the Impala. GM could have moved the tooling over just fine and would have sold way more in North America than they did in .au. obviating the need for .au sales. 2. There are reasons the Aussie population stopped buying the Commodore. As our very...

It wasn't even commercial only - it was police only. Shortly after they introduced it, they banned sales to civilians of any kind. Which was a mistake - what they should have done is looked at the surprising demand for their $35K RWD sedan and just opened sales up. I think it would have sold...

    Holden axes Commodore

Still FailWD biased and based, I've driven one (a Buick Regal GS AWD) and it was disappointing. The rear end cannot be stepped out if desired and considering that the Commodore has long been associated with hooning, that's a biiiiig fail. Basically GM replaced a mediocre sirloin steak with a...
