My first track day - any advice?

Nah, I'm only kidding. I just have to make sure to get my brakes bled and put good quality brake fluid in and know where I am and everybody else is at all times and not hit curbs too hard and have fun. ;) The car's going into the garage tomorrow and my mechanic's up to speed on what I need so...

My first track day - any advice?

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to get used to paying more attention to my car and surroundings. And it's due a service in a few weeks, or at least its MOT, so I'll talk to my mechanic about the brakes then.

My first track day - any advice?

I got a new car in April - well, a 2003 Renault Clio, but to me it's new, it has possibly-functioning air conditioning - and for my birthday, my mate bought me a track day to take it to at Bedford Autodrome. I'm excited as anything, but having never been on a track day before, what sort of...

Rear left wheel all broken or something

Aaaaaaaaand it turns out that whatever my friend thought he saw, he probably didn't see. Mechanic said nothing's out of alignment; the shock absorber broke. So they're replacing it right now. Sorry for the completely wrong info, but thank you for your suggestions anyway! I blame my friend...

Rear left wheel all broken or something

It was yesterday that it happened, and I haven't driven it since. It's going to have to go a garage though, obviously. It's the whole wheel that moves, not just the tyre. Fingers crossed it's not too bad. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Rear left wheel all broken or something

Thanks for the thoughts so far. I'll try and get a video today if I can. When I say eccentric, I was slightly incorrect - the wheel appears correctly centred (as in, it doesn't lift off the ground then come back). It's developed a camber, and as it rotates the wheel leans left, right, left...

Rear left wheel all broken or something

Hi, I haven't posted on Finalgear in quite some time, but I could use some help. My car is a 2001 Renault Megane 5-door. Driving on the motorway today, 30 miles from home the rear of my car began to judder up and down, increasing at speed. Long story short, I took it slow from then and once...

The Funny Maths Thread.. which sometimes contains mildly amusing pictures

Regardless of whether he would donate regardless, or whether he had no intention to donate at all, I'm saying that acting as though you'll donate a significant amount of money to charity knowing full well that the conditions you place on that donation won't be fulfilled is immature.

    Old stereo to new stereo

Got it working! Matt2000's link was useful, that shop had the type of adapter I needed. No steering wheel controls any more but I can live with that. I appreciate all the help! The only problem now is that even with the fascia plate the radio still looks a bit rubbish in the dash :p

    Old stereo to new stereo

It's a Sony CDX-GT212. If it weren't for the fact that I already own it and I want to use the aux input I might well buy that Renault-own CD unit that villej linked to :p

    Old stereo to new stereo

Thanks for the help, everyone. I just went to Halfords but they didn't have the part I need. They told me that it should have come with the radio but they don't sell it or know where it can be bought, which is exactly what I'd expect from the nation's leading auto parts retailer. If it did come...

    Old stereo to new stereo

I want to replace the old cassette radio in my Renault Megane with a newer CD one I bought a few years ago. The problem is that the connectors don't match up. The car possesses these leads: And the new radio has this socket: Is there an adapter I can buy to use the new radio or will I have...

The Funny Maths Thread.. which sometimes contains mildly amusing pictures

I don't think that's quite the point. It's not to say that you HAVE to laugh out loud. It's a social/psychological thing. The clip that was posted on the previous page is quite good actually: Without others laughing out loud, the show feels more serious. The laugh track lifts the tone. It's...

The Funny Maths Thread.. which sometimes contains mildly amusing pictures

Re: Zizek and The Big Bang Theory: It doesn't appear that this is what lead to the posting of that image, but I recall hearing or reading Zizek on the subject of laugh tracks. He said he was asked something to the effect of, 'Seeing as you're always analysing media, are you able to ever just...

    Movie: The Dictator

I'm not sure how true that is. My main criticism was that the film is put together appallingly, and whether you like most big studio comedies or not, they are at least competently constructed. As I say, I laughed a few times, but the film on the whole was so awful that I felt too hostile to want...
