The "Things that annoy me" thread

Oh it’s lovely, don’t get me wrong. Screen is the best I’ve ever had, and the battery life is more than anyone ever needs. For browsing the web and farting around on the interwebs it’s brilliant. Just the ‘actual work’ part that lets it down. But I suppose you could get a windows laptop which is...

Muscle memory from 25+years of using windows machines. The problem is with the person, not the machine. As usual

On a related note, one of my desktop icons is missing! Actually no, but I'm using a Mac now because of reasons, and it's the first time I've used an actual Mac computer in ages. It isn't really tailored to actual work (like spreadsheets and stuff). The mouse scrolling without a wheel is nice...

The 'I don't like Tesla' Thread

Thats a bold statement... I'm by no means a Tesla fanboy but in my experience this is wildly inaccurate. I've driven Tesla's for miles and I've needed to interfere with it once (1 time). A Nissan Leaf with adaptive CC was much more dangerous since that often slammed on the brakes for no reason...

It’s probably people driving like idiots. I see a bunch of them usually doing the speedlimit on the highway and every other 10 or so seconds dabbing the brakes for no real reason

Preconditioned is something else, it’s setting the temperature to something comfortable remotely without needing to start the car. Or do those eberspacher units allow for remote cooling aswell?

    Covid 19 CRISIS

How the hell do you Aussies get to 95% vaccination rate? I’m guessing we’ll never get there despite efforts to push people to go do it/annoy people who don’t. You guys don’t have antivaxxers? If so I wanna move there. In related news, booster shot for me today. Heard some people were VERY sick...

Heh. I actually looked into commuting by train a while ago (before covid and WFH was ‘normal’). Aside from the actual cost (which was astronomical), the timing just doesn’t make sense in .be. Unless you live in one of the very few large cities, there is no direct train route. So that means...

From what I hear that’s pretty much the least reliable Land Rover product, and that’s saying something. Also what is it with Brits having multiple cars per person? I get one commuter car and one ‘fun’ car, but why would you need the ‘dog’ car aswell?

We have someone in Belgium with that little taste and that much money. Heh. Licence plate alone is 2k€

So much noodle talk and none of it is about me [emoji19]. FWIW I thought noodles were specifically chinese noodles too. I never knew italian noodles came from the same food family

I kinda get what Kryten is saying though. The journalist obviously doesn’t have a clue and is just rehashing stuff he heard from other people. More people need to drive an EV before they’ll understand 1) you won’t run out of electricity and 2) if you do get low, you get a warning beforehand and...

Heh. Must be a thing. I usually turn on the subtitles so I can watch YT without the sound and still understand what’s going on. It’s a bit hit & miss with the auto translation, sometimes it’s completely accurate, sometimes wildly off (especially with some accents or brand names). And I get that...

Unverified Ownership My 2021 Korean 38kWh Appliances (Toaster Electric & Moomin EV)

Noice! I never understood the weird placement of the chargeport in these though, the front is super dirty…. Also 39kwh seems small for a car this size,no? Especially in buttfreeze weather? Depends on whether you do longer trips or not

Ownership Verified: My its_not_a_golf ev (2020 VW id3)

Had the same issue on my eGolf last year. Some hot water followed by a good slap loosened it, but I don’t recommend this for the long term, as you can remove the top panel by accident (leaving you with an ugly looking but still unopening charge port) A bit weird this is still a thing…...

What are your "non-negotiables" for your next car?

I do too, but many people want 2 cars for this exact reason. But because of the different use cases, the demands for both cars can vary wildly…. I’d want manual, rwd and a lot of horsepower for my fun car, and the exact opposite for my commuter car

What are your "non-negotiables" for your next car?

That is true I’ve never lived in a colder climate so I fail to see the point of a heated steering wheel. With an EV you can preheat, this is even less of an issue I’d think? With regards to the disc brakes : to me this is not an option just something your car has. I’ve never thought of this as...

What are your "non-negotiables" for your next car?

Who this has gotten out of hand - these "Non Negotiables" range from "I want disc brakes all around" to "I need a heated steering wheel". One is ridiculously basic and standard (?) on all cars, the other is a luxury no one REALLY needs matter how cold it gets where you live.... Also I see the...

To further confuse things, n .be atleast you can get an ‘xLine’ pack on the 3, the x1 and the x3. This is just an options/interior pack that has no effect on engine or driven wheels
