sure, I understand why they ended up where they did, but it makes for a pretty weak ending when Adam can drive right there and the others get off their mode of transport some distance away and have to figure out how to get to the finish.

Slipped just a notch from last week but still solid. 7/10.

Just my own opinion, but I hope NBC regrets their decision of chucking the show before giving it a chance.
I see a lot of potential in this show whereas I can't find many redeeming qualities with current NBC programming.

As much as we all would have liked seeing TGUS getting more exposure on a broadcast network like NBC, it's probably better that it's on cable because shows on cable don't live or die by the ratings. Case in point, some shows that are getting just under 10 mil viewers on the big 4 networks are getting canceled since the ratings are all the networks (and sponsors) seem to look at.

I rated it a 9 primarily for the Morgan review and the footage of that fast as hell boat. The race was only slightly entertaining. And please ditch the big car small car segment--it is a waste of airtime. I'd rather have the news segment for several minutes.

Well, I'd call it an 8.
Morgan segment definitely shows that Tanner does, indeed, cut it as a TG presenter. Yes, there's the superior camera work of the TGUK people, but Tanner's narrative style works surprisingly well here. Apart from being shocked at the end of the high-speed run.
Miami-Key West race: I think that was shot earlier on in the production, the camaraderie still seems a bit forced. The production crew *could* have arranged for Tanner's scooter ahead of time, but delays like that do need to be part of the narrative, i.e. the three "wise men" get caught in mundane stuff the same as the rest of us.

What I like about Rutledge . . . joy. The man must be an absolutely lousy poker player, because when he's having fun, it's impossible for him to keep the joy off his face. The Brits are a bit more restrained about letting their emotions show.

As for "why don't TGUK and TGUS get together?" . . . what the hell for? The US boys still need to establish themselves in the public consciousness (remember they're a specialty channel show), and having the UK boys on would hinder rather than help. Remember, it was 2 years before the UK crew appeared on TGAUS; it'll take at least that long before the US folks are secure enough in their adapted format to let Clarkson onto the show.

It's no different than any TGUK race where Hammond and May have to run, or take a bus, of Jeremy has to run from the train and Hames could drive right up. It shows the disadvantage of the other modes of transport. *shrugs*

I'd give the show a 7/10.
The race was fun to watch but I would have liked to hear Adam (who i'm not fond of) talk about the Lotus a little more but i guess they were restrained on time. The news could have been longer.... better than last week though. And I agree with a good chunk of people here the BSSC deal needs to go away, unless somebody is promoting a movie, but otherwise leave it on the back burner.
So pretty much what made the episode was the Morgan bit, camera work was well done and review was well done by Tanner. Hopefully more of the review are like that one was.

Weird... I HATE when people comes on the show just to plug something. Why not have celebrities on for their love of cars? I want to watch a car show, not see some celeb trying to make me buy something. Note to everyone: Commercials = Bad.

The ONLY reason celebrities go on any version of Top Gear is to plug a movie, TV show, political candidacy, a project or self-promotion. This is why celebrities appear on ANY show.

Commercials are bad? Cable television in the United States is a commercial venture. You know, a BUSINESS. No commercials, no Top Gear. And, that goes for all versions of Top Gear, including the UK. Manufacturers provide cars to to Top Gear for exposure/publicity. Just about every vehicle on license-funded BBC2 Top Gear is a commercial. Every celebrity on TGUK is a commercial. Do you think TGUK, TGAUS, or TGUSA pays manufacturers to supply vehicles?

I know Norway is socialist, but business makes the rest of the world run.

I gave this episode an 8.

(If the TGUSA copies the UK "drive by" Stig shooting, they will do it faster than 3 mph at a range greater than 5 feet.)

I can't remember that stars on TGUK have plugged anything yet? It's also been better on TGUK the last season. An earlier one had people plugging like it was a movie review-show, just without criticism. If they appear to promote themselves, that's fine. If they come on to make me buy shit I get annoyed. It's a car show, I'd like to hear them talk about their cars and the lap, not watch movie trailers.

Commercials are fine to pay for entertainment that would otherwise be subscription based. I do accept that commercials are a natural part of modern television. Even our three government funded TV-channels show sponsor-posters before big events, especially sports (...this match is brought to you by...).
But socialist? Every party in the Norwegian parliament is social democratic, like most democratic countries on the planet. We're far away from Marxist-Leninists in former Soviet or China.

I really hope they kill Top Gear USA. This is the worst show ever on TV and everyone keep track of all the pathetic losers who keep saying "it's getting better", "Top Gear UK sucked during their first season", "the fat man is a really nice person in real life", etc.

THIS SHOW JUST SUCKS KILL IT PLEASE BBC

Finally got around to watching this last night, I enjoyed it enough. Tanner's Morgan review was surprisingly really good and showed his potential as a presenter on the show. My biggest problem is Rutledge doesn't seem as natural as the other two. It's nothing against the guy, he seems genuine and has a good time, but something just seems "off".

The aerial shot of all three at the same time in the race was pretty cool too. The review was okay, really hoping Tim Allen steps it up a notch tonight.

9\10

the race was awesome.
especially this moment:

it's just hilarious. And btw TG UK never done that :) So, the show is actually using sort of its own ideas... I think.
loved Michelle, and the first wet lap on track

Morgan:
Awesome camera work! Tanner was ok, but I felt like he was reading a book when he was talking about the car. Most of the time I am the first to defend Tanner as I love his driving and some of his well founded comments, but he really lacked any passion or emotion in this. The review seemed like "I did this, and then I did that and then did this... the end"

Race:
There were several noticeably slightly out of focus shots, that is to say visibly soft. In most of the TGUK races I never really believe they are overly staged but this stunk of if for me. The likelyhood of all three being on the same bridge with a camera plane is a bit much as was how close the ending was. For me it seemed as if they literary had the hosts in place and called action!

The Good:
Adams studio section for SinSC was pretty decent, he has improved a lot
Morgan Camera Work
That Boat
Tanners comment about "We are in a race...." was funny

They have done that. The challenge was basically a mash-up of a few TGUK challenges: The boat vs car vs bicycle during London episode (also the super boat vs Ferrari Daytona from Riviera to San-Tropez episode), the Cessna 182 airplane vs Veyron from Italy to London. So no, originality was not found in the last week's episode, nor was it challenging considering two of the presenters didn't even control their chosen powered-conveyances (or whatever they called if not the vehicles). It certainly wasn't "EPIC" either. I could moan about other issues with this episode but I may have to shut my mouth at this point even if it's just my opinion.

So far the lowest score I ever gave to any of the TGUSA episode. Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward for the next episode.

its a race using different types of transport. you can spin it either way you want but if you wanna say "they have done that" show me. a plane vs a boat vs a plane? when. hell, using that argument you could say that TG UK has been using the exact same idea every race they run, a car vs another type of transportation. so, how do you figure there was nothing original? what would be an "original" idea for them to use that would involve a car racing something? please, enlighten me...

people comming onto this Post Show forums and just picking the shows apart is getting F*&^ing old.

Well idk, at least swap an airplane with something bizarre like Aerocar or instead of a bland boat use the amphibious vehicle.

See creativity has no bounds. I know this show has just kicked off but just by mixing up some greater challenges from the original TG right at the beginning is a bit risky. I'm sorry if my views on this episode doesn't quite match with yours.

you got me wrong.

I mean exactly that moment when all three Adam, Foust and Rutledge were at the same point. In one frame.

lets have this conversation then after the second season starts. they will be using more "original" ideas then im sure.

oh, and the Boat of that type is common around south florida, the sea plane is common around that area of florida and the shitty "super car" is VERY common there as well. what would be a more relevant race to do from Miami to the Keys? think about it. its dont get more original than what they did there complete with the Trooper camping on the end of the Overseas Highway brindges. they love doing that.

I think this is my favorite episode yet, to me it felt like a regular episode of TGUK. As far as lay out and flow goes. A car review, a race, SIARPC, and finish race. And they even squeezed in the news.

Morgan review: I thought this went real well. I love that Tanner went to England for this. I don't understand why some people are surprised when he does a good review, of the three Tanner does have another TV program where he reviews and drives cars.

Race: I liked it, I thought the part where Tanner dive bombs Rut was funny. However I didn't like how scripted it all felt, like all three coming into shot perfectly on the bridge. And Tanner losing buy like an inch.

Over all I liked the feel of this episode.
