5/10, even conversation street was boring, the rest is not even worth describing.

Not great, and the roadtrip again lacked a purpose other than "let's beat the shit out of three cars and have May look miserable". The 430 looked great and seemed to function just fine.

I quite liked it, I liked the bit where Jeremy crashed into the camera car and the bit where James May drove onto the boat... some other stuff, It was good.

Truly - to each his own - when it comes to TGT.

I had watched this yesterday, Thursday, in the US hoping to pop on this forum the next day, i.e. now, and see 9s and 10s all around. And yet some of you hated this?
It's got all of the ingredients of TG.
Less scripted.
A short review of the Fiat.
A few jokes that actually worked.
Cheap car challenge.
And it seems that CHM got feedback about the show by this episode. Notice their subtexts.

I think this episode is the beginning of a comeback to the olden days of cheap things, toning down on Mr. Porter's scripts and just being funny/stupid all on their own. I did spot a few unforced jokes that may not have been at the pen of Mr. Porter.

Or...and this is just a wild assertion here...for the first time ever I sat down to watch this episode with indifference and mindset of "I don't care anymore". Perhaps that thelped hike up my review of this episode.

Terrible. Absolute rubbish

Can we make this more construtive?
I mean so many people have so many different opinions.
Can we organize this a bit?
That way we see what is truly rubbish (aka, everyone agrees on it) and what is just a subjective opinionation.

Please, no duplicates. If you agree just put +1 or whatever the tutal # is.
Let's just see what happens.
Maybe the trio or Porter will look at this AND MAKE CHANGES TO SEASON 2!

In Episode 11, I Liked:

  • Cheap car challange (the comeback to the idea/concept)
  • Less scripting
  • Practical jokes on May (the idea)

In Episode 11, I Hated:

  • The American
  • Celebrity Brain Crash
  • Unrealistic directing (i.e. May's car jump, being lost in France and at the dock)
  • Practical jokes on May (the execution, distasteful dildo)

Yeah that's pretty much how I've been watching. I'm not a fan anymore, I just watch it.
If it's good it's good, if it's bad it's bad, whatever. I won't go defending it with tooth and nail on forums like a Twilight teenage fangirl, like I've been seeing lately (and frankly I find it pathetic).

I voted 5, the whole episode just screamed "mediocre" to me. I'm truly trying to figure out what the folks voting "10" are watching...

I'm calling this one a 6.

The Fiat 124 was a good bit, but would have been improved by a stronger comparison with the high-end MX-5.
The American was better this time out, not as stereotypical. (And I think they should have taken an MX-5 out as well for comparison.)
Conversation Street was a little better this time out, bit more car-focused.
The Maseratis: you know, it wouldn't kill them to acknowledge that Clarkson had, many moons ago, dropped a dumpster on a BiTurbo because he thought it was rubbish. The bits of car history in the conversation were all right, but the TGT writers need to realize that the "cheap car challenge" segments have to be about more -- a lot more -- than just three men cocking about.
Celebrity Brain Crash: the bit with the rowboat wasn't the worst. The smart thing would have been to end the segment with the smartphone video. It's the "use immigrants as menial labour" that brings the segment down; it gives Guardian complainants credence when they call JC a racist, and bigger people crushing little people by sitting on them is never funny.
The Maseratis, part 2: examples of when scripting works, and when it doesn't. When it works, you get the maze of containers, and that's fine. When it doesn't, you get the driving onto the yacht, which is neither exciting nor funny, especially when everyone knows that stunt driving is out of character for JM.

Oh, don't be so serious. They never showed much consistency in their opinions. Remember the 1007, for instance.
IMHO,
Two Alfas in parallel slide ? that's some strong pornography.
Two Lancias in parallel slide ? that's something you find only on the darkest corners of the internet.
Two Biturbos in parallel slide ? that's that Japanese stuff where a girl gets raped by an octopus.

Two thumbs up for me.

I would edit this show with one of J C s hammers.
A broken arm i would go further broken leg or legs.
25 minutes in and its Fish Feeding time.

Funnies scene on GT so far: Jeremy Clarkson in real, unscripted anger ("...I am in labour...I am coming in my Maserati...")

According to the new TGT formula, I can watch the first review which lasts about 10 minutes and then turn off the stream and not miss much. The last episode of the season needs to be really special for me to yearn for the next season.

The biggest crime wasn't that it was bad (it wasn't). Just that it was criminally boring. I watched until 45min mark, took a nap and returned. Shame too because the trailer got me excited. Three maseratis - the story should write itself, right?

6/10

Well, largely I enjoyed this episode, which felt like a further step towards what they used to do. The only things I didn't like were that the cheap car challenge didn't know when to end- it started off like a challenge from the old days, albeit without much purpose, but got sillier by the time they reached the dock; as if Hammond was really lost in the containers, and the end jump was ludicrous.

Apart from that, I enjoyed it- even The American was...well, tolerable at least!

I think somewhere in having a huge budget now, no one is realising that just because you CAN do something, that doesn't mean that you SHOULD- less was always more, chaps.

To be honest, if this is what 12 episodes are going to be like, I'd much rather have 6 episodes and actually MEMORABLE quality stuff.

Like Red Falcon said, I just watch it to watch it now...

Honestly at the end of this one I just snapped... I mean those main segments are all predominantly crap.
