I have watched the episode a couple of times now. The episode started of a little slow, the football challenge was nothing to write home about, a few laughs watching them cross the border. The race to the casino was absolutely the best part of the whole show, watching Adam fight those luchadors was hilarious, as was Tanner getting into a cake fight in the car. The pi?ata challenge and the final challenge were average, though they had there moments. I still think they are having trouble stuffing everything into a one hour show with commercials. They either need to expand it to one and a half hours or start being a little more creative in the editing of the show. But all in all I gave it a 7. Unlike UK version which had a whole year off and threw out a clunker, the US version was just a continuation from the fall, consider this a filler episode in middle of season.

I get the feeling the producers have found a cheap way to make the show without pissing off too many sponsors.

This rings out to me as being very true. As long as they are mocking and breaking cars that are no longer being made or no longer related to the models being made they can't piss of the sponsors.

I do find the three are working much better together but I don't think they can do to many seasons of break the old car without it becoming very dull.

This was about on par with the premiere of TG UK. Nothing really standoutish. It did have some funny moments. "Feliz Navidad" from Tanner for instance.

I don't have a problem if this is the format they choose to do for TG US but they need to try and keep the challenges fresh. TG UK has the same problem now.

I gave it an 8. The segments at least weren't a carbon copy of a UK episode and I had some genuine laughs. I personally feel luchadors should accompany Adam everywhere from now on. I've grown to like all the hosts equally for what they bring to the banter, and I don't mind the lack of car segments.

Their car "reviews" thus far felt lacking in credibility especially next to the GIRTH of Clarkson's car experience for example, so I never cared for them. Them driving supercars feels like if I drove a supercar; stumbling over myself in giddy madness rather than having points relative to compare. Perhaps if they reviewed more "normal" cars, it would feel more credible.

The UK hosts play up their own established tropes to nearly the same amount that Adam plays "the wrecker", so that doesn't bother me either. I guess I'm just sold on this thing And it's already lasted much longer than I expected it to, so anything here out is a lovely bonus to me! And who hasn't winced at the conspicuous "mayhem" that happens in all the time in UK challenges.

I do think the show would benefit highly from the full hour that UK has though, which is a shame.

It was funny episode, overall. But towards the end, it started to lag a bit. A good attempt to start the new year, but not the best. But I am confident the rest of season 3 will be great.

I hated it, I have tried to like this show, but there is no chemistry between the hosts, there are no car reviews and redoing the TGUK challenges is getting old.

About the only thing I did like was seeing some of TJ, though it's a 5 minute drive from the pick up points to the casino.

Hey :)
I want to know what song it was in this episode when they drove to Mexico on the highway. Maybe it is a song that is made for the episode but I really want to know.

I know I can check in the forum TG What Song? But Season 3 isn't there yet. Thanks :)

I liked the first half of the episode.
Also if the UK guys ever do a Mexico challenge I hope one of them get stuck with a car full of luchadores. Especially James May.

I'm not buying Rutledge's excuse that the Bus's engine case "broke", it wasn't hit that hard. There wasn't much damage to the back of the Bus. As an aircooled VW fan, it was sad seeing it cut up like that.

I suspect "breaking" the engine was just a scripted setup for the donkey cart joke later on. Also, I'm pretty sure that's not the same van. The front seats change from black to brown and the dent near the passenger headlight disappears. And really, it would take a Mexican mechanic more time to chop the van and build the front frame/harness assembly than it would to just replace the engine. It's not like air cooled VW's are rare down there.

They've done that (at least) twice before. In the Season 2 opener, Adam's Maverick in the monster truck race was not the one he used for the majority of the episode. Also in Season 2, when the presenters converted their vans to boats to cross the pond, Adam's van was an older model Town & Country than the one he used throughout the episode.

Same tired old challenge, gave it a 4 and that was being nice.

At the very least, they should run TG US in the spring and fall between the 2 TG UK series.

They can't help the scheduling. That said, I imagine S4 will be premiering in August or thereabouts (based on past premiere dates), well after UK S20 is finished.

That VW bus was actually in decent condition, its a shame they had to chop it up...

Can anyone give me a link/name of the music that is played in the background while they are going to Mexico after the first challenge? Its really catchy! Thanks.

I don't know the music used for that but most of the music used in TG:US is from generic stock music libraries so finding the exact song might be a bit tricky.

Thats a shame, now I'll have to rip the audio from it. :(
