At least they actually did something with their RVs. All the UK presenters did was drive a bit, go surfing, and cook dinner. I thought the cutting back and forth between the quiet RV camp and their crazy driving was done very well, and that the Charlotte tailgate bit was amusing.

One of the funniest Top Gears I've seen. The expressions on everyone's face when Rut revealed that his civic 'opened up was priceless.

The first 2/3rds were top notch while it did start to run out of steam once they reached Charlotte.

I had a smile the whole time so giving them a 10/10.

Public Announcement to History: PLEASE stop ruining future segments in the 'coming up next' previews. Infact, get rid of those. The recaps are bad enough but now you are spoiling every little surprise.

I really thought I wouldn't enjoy this and it would be an absolute rip-off - but they did their own thing with it, and it was genuinely entertaining :)

Easy 9. The best ep so far of the new crop. This one was genuinely entertaining from start to finish, especially the "storm test".

It's reassuring that they're beginning to be able to take existing TG plots and actually turn out a better version of it.

All I can say is they ought to consider removing the Top Gear branding so people don't mistake this for a show about cars.

I guess I'll probably check back in a year or two to see if anything's changed... but for now, one less series for ye olde DVR.

What the hell are you babbling about?

Better than the original, and I rather liked the original too.

The music is killing this show. Seriously, if they can't afford a good soundtrack like TGUK, just don't use one. The "Greatest Zydeco hits of 1981" are fucking TERRIBLE.

This show is getting more stupid with every episode. I think this was the last one I watch unless they go back to actually testing and presenting new cars or interresting auto subjects.

You're absolutely right.

It was pretty damn funny, however I wish they would do some new car comparisons, and epic races.

Though it was a little disappointing to see that they had almost directly ripped off the design choices of the original Top Gear episode from series 15 with tanner taking the role or May, Rut being Hammond and Adam being Clarkson it picked up a little bit after they made they're own spin on it with the rest of the episode, it was also nice that they didn't do that thing which they've had a habit of doing recently which is a bunch of challenges and the winner... gets a challenge!
My Favourite bit was the race at the end with the Nascar drivers, they should do more of that stuff.

I agree with this, if there is anything wrong with TG USA it's the post production team, whom have no originality what so ever. They're taste in music sucks, they're too lazy to do a creative colour grade and the editing of the show fails to bring the same kind of excitement that you get from Top Gear.
It's like Tanner, Adam and Rutledge showed up to make top gear then it was handed off to a bunch of people who were trying to make Dirty Jobs or something.

I dunno, if they did everything UK did then it'd be a total copy and with only 43 mins as opposed to UK's 60 mins, they'd always be worse.

I see they've abandoned doing everything and just focusing on the "buy 3 cars, do stupid stuff" forumla which I have to say, I think it's working well for them. Personally I think the cheap car challenges are the best part of the UK show and I enjoy the US spin on things with a lot of the more domestic models you'll never see on the UK show.

End of the day, you know it's a copy, they know it's a copy, so just enjoy it for what it is. Content and how the show progresses definitely entertaining and isn't the same as UK.

Maybe because I'm not American I find the content interesting. Top Gear Australia on the other hand... most god awful show ever made, total carbon copy and it didn't work, crappy hosts who try too hard to be funny, god I'm glad it's dead.

All they do anymore is ruin old cars. Where are the Stig laps, car reviews, industry news, and tidbits like the Shelby tribute? I can't remember the last time I actually learned anything from this show, and they have no respect for cars.

The Botswana special is what a cheap car challenge should be. This show is just destruction porn.

Exactly, all it seems they are doing is finding beaters that are over 20 years old and different finding ways to destroy them (i.e. challenges and demolition derbies). This RV episode is much of the same, towards the end it was yet another demolition derby around an oval track with race car drivers behind the wheel wrecking old RVs! IMO its getting really old, how long can they keep doing this and not turn off the audience. Yes, its cheap entertainment and people surprisingly like it, but I think its not real Top Gear. Like erick said where is the car reviews and the Stig laps? No appreciation to cars what so ever.

I totally agree, although it would have been better not to even be reminded that it actually existed! :yucky:

You mean like how the Brits had an 'epic' road trip that contained two resurrected and highly anticipated models, one still in pre-production form and they procede to talk jack shit about them? I think I learned more about Tanner's Porsche 928S last night than about the new Viper Hammond was driving. The past season of TG:US has been completely about cars...just mostly old ones. No interview fluff, or vamping about a children's tractor book for 20 minutes.
