Question: What is that little candy thing JC eats during a rest break called "Spunk"?
It's a German liquorice that all us Brit visitors buy (myself included) because it seems funny at the time.

EDIT: I've just Googled for a British->American dictionary.

American
spunk cf n :
liveliness, excitement, courageousness.

British
spunk cf n :
semen, syn. spooge, (Scot) joombye /joombee/.

You see the humour

Cool episode :D

The part about holland is great

But the video parts during the SLR part are messed up, they show footage from Belgium and France during the chitchat about Holland... :p

What an episode!!! I loved it!

However, saying that, I am EXTREMLY embarassed to be Belgian... The only good thing is the lighted motorway?! Belgium is only there so that you go through to get to Germany... Man I hate this place!

What a show though... DBR9???!!! SLR vs all forms of transports?!! Wow! :woot:

Still... I'm worried about the sexual orientation of May and Hammond now...

That bridge that Jezza drove down was absolutely fantastic!

Great episode... I'm happy now :D

HAHA as soon as I saw what he was eating I was like... umm What the fuck??!? JC then goes "I don't like spunk" haha that had me in tears.

I loved the part where JC was giving crap to the Dutch as well.. haha

All in all... Fan-fucking-tastic episode.

:bangin:

It's danish, it comes from Galle & Jessen, and is named Spunk because of a swedish author, Astrid Lindgren, made up the word for Pippi.
I could go on but I will spare you.

They're just being close mates. :)

I wonder, how much of the race is for real. I mean, JC has to stop to let the camera car get passed to shoot the drive by on specific locations, they mess-up a take or two and have to redo them. Rent a chopper to shoot the arial shots on the bridge, that might take more time than one flyby.

So, how much of the race is staged and how much is for real. Or do they do it twice, once for real and once for the camera.

Just wondered about his when watching. The route in Holland wasn't the most efficient while going past the flower beds (that was on a local b-road and not the fasted method).

He routed through the local B road to get away from the traffic, remember?

I dont think they redo much, because remember they're covering 1300 miles. If they mess up one fly-by, they can just take another at a good spot when one turns up.

Crap, I really need to learn to hit "submit" rather than "post reply" when I'm done. I keep having to rewrite my messages>_<

Anyway, the ep: one of my faves to date, though Jeremy overacting during the safety instruction on the Eurotrain wasn't too funny IMHO.

I loved James and Richard having dinner. That was the most perfect "WTF??"-look I have ever seen. Hammond looking tipsy was kinda cute (<-- ex Hammond-'shipper talking here. There, I said it:p Don't hit me>_<!!) And speaking of cute: Hammond...shirtless...in bed...OMG  *slaps self* sorry about that...

I wasn't too thrilled about Jeremy's country bashing routine. I know it's supposed to be funny, but I'm getting a little sick of that "Dutch=porn+drugs" crap, for obvious reasons.

Otherwise, great ep!! So much fun...

JC:"So how's things?" JM:"Well, not too good actually." "Well, I'm sorry [quietly laughing his ass off]." "No, really bad. The boat's falling apart, the navigator[?] has been sick, I think Hammond [hanging overboard being sick]'s dead..."

In the studio, about the Alfa, JC to an audience member: "You come here, with that hair, to talk about style?!" (me: "Says you!!")

They were on the roll again with the *ahem* sexually-oriented remarks again (though I don't think that that Alfa was pretty enough to warrant R-rated responses  )

BTW, is it me, or have James and Richard been swapping clothing styles lately? I mean, James wearing not-tucked-in shirts and Richard wearing jackets?

this was one of the best episode I've ever seen
I really enjoyed this
the race was so funny and the SLR was so good looking on the motorway with the lights on.... :woot:
and the DBR9 was so awesome  ( what a sound )

really perfect

*ahem* sexually-oriented remarks

ive noticed that as well...

But overall great episode... and i think that was a monaro.... hey another perth person!!!

i swear top gear is getting HUGGGE...

How far would the Vikings have got,if they had to put there seatbelts on in their longboats?
-JC

What a great episode. It had everything! Two supercars, a great laptime, a good race, breaking stuff, and a lot of humor
(only missed some caravans :D )

One of the best

There is something bothering me about the race.
Jeremy was driving into Denmark during the late hours of the evening, when it was dark. Said he slept just outside Copenhagen and continued at dawn.
Then he drives through a tunnel, onto the Oresund Bridge that links Denmark and Sweden, but then he drives on this bridge, http://img98.imageshack.**/img98/3002/bscap0012vh.jpg
Storeb?ltsbroen, that is a bridge from Fyn to Sj?lland, in Denmark, so if he was driving there at dawn he slept before he got to it.

Hi guys, decided I should register seeing as though I've ben enjoying these great episodes so far.

About 40% to go, and very excited about the current installment. With all the excellent remarks, this looks to be very promising...

I've just read this in another forum:

We'd loved to have put the DBRS9 round the TG track but unfortunately they haven't built a runner yet and the car we had in the studio was just a show car with no engine.

As far as the race goes, some people do get furrow browed about how we get the shots of the cars during its journey. Well, for the less mentally creative who haven't yet worked out this one, I'll let you into a secret. The interior filming and some of the tracking shots are done during the race. The more arty time consuming stuff is done on the return leg back to the UK when they've got more time to make it look nice. Next time I'll fill you in on why Coronation Street isn't a real place.

Well, I have to say that the episode was a real joy to watch. My real LOL moment of this episode was where the radio says something like "The British troops have landed..." and Jeremy lets out a big "YES!" - that really cracked me up, fantastic stuff. :D

I am not sure if he really was in Holland when he was behind the old Opel Cora, that had a Belgium plate and the Passat to the left has one too..weird.. :|

Oh and Jeremy should shut up at the DBR9, I want to hear the engine not him.

The Corsa and the Passat are both on belgium plates, but scene before you can see two dutch car's passing the SLR. There are many belqium cars on dutch roads, so it's nothing special.
The race overall was great, especially breaking both of these boats :D :D I would loved to see a close finish again.

Was probably shot around Antwerp with its road works.
Why did he go past Amsterdam to the afsluitdijk, when he could off gone toward Arnhem cross the border and hit the autobahn toward Denmark.

BTW, Zuiderzee? Come on buy a modern atlas guys.
