I like both those cars, I'm a bit of an Evo fan, but as a road car I think the M5 would best choice if you could afford it. Evo FQ400 is faster in a straight line and around a track (probably FQ340 too) but the M5 is still seriously fast, especially at higher speeds when it's weight doesn't count so much, and handles fairly decently for a road car. Has all the luxury stuff for a comfortable drive and perfect for long distance cruising.

That's not any V10 either, it's an M division V10. There is a difference :D .

i know 2guys that drive M3s, and few STI owners, thinking speed only, there is not much to it. But when you sit inside the M3, you will never wonder how nice it would be inside the sti, but inside sti, you know that there is more to M3 than just pure speed, same goes to M5 vs evo. 0-100 is only a statistic, i agree evo might be fast on the track too, but still if the evo was as good car as an M5, would there be any M5 buyers with that premium in the sticker. There is some poetic balance in the bmw range, especially the M cars. You get plenty of performance in an Evo and in an STI, but still if you want prestige combined with performance, you know what to buy ;)

BTW there is some nice tune ups coming in to V10s, 60hp extra to be exact, upping the ante to 567hp. . .
 
its surely a sad thing for those who doesnt like german cars, especially BMWs which are more superior when comes to their M-powered cars.

BMW M5 is simply SUPERB. because you can get almost EVERYTHING in just one package.

0-100km/h doesnt matter that much. its infact better 100km/h onwards.

Evo? sigh. Evo isnt as comfortable as Germans/Britians. Owning an Evo wont satisfy you that long..because in a short period of time, another faster version of Evo coming. And of course ppl will crazed the latest Evo. And that makes owning an Evo doesnt feel special at all. Unless, you're a bad boy type who loves to change girlfriends so often OR likes to update your cellphones, then maybe owning an Evo suits you.

Its like you got to be updated in every quarter in a year. same like updating with cellphones. e.g. - when u buy one cellphone which u think is special...in the next 3 months, comes out better hp which makes yours started to look NOT special anymore.

Not like European cars..their looks are long-lasting. which makes them special even after 10 years. Prove? im sure most ppl still love their E30 models :). They only update their new cars ONCE every 3-5 years.

so many cars are very turbo-dependent nowadays. BMW M5's V10 is only a normal-aspirated :)

So, just face the fact. If you want something special, germans/italians/other european manufacturers can provide that.as far as im concerned my faves, M Division & Porsche just delivered that.

Yes I have to agree, granted I personally think the evo is the ugliest car anyone has ever produced, ever, I can't see why they would even attempt to compare the two. The types of people who would buy these cars are completely opposite. The M5 is for executives who want a practical, fast car, whereas the Evo is for people who want to look fast. I would rather look like an executive in a car that looks stunning than look like someone who thinks they have a fast car (that looks like it was designed by a retarded 5 year old).

This is what I was tryin to get across...No one is doubting the Evo's credentials it's a seriously fast car...However, the M5 is in it's own category. Evo Schmevo... LOL @ the retardred 5 year old :lol:

You pull up at the lights in your M5.... some coot pulls up next to you in his "Lancer" He blitzes you.... you toddle off in your M5 with a wry smile and think.....What a wanker!

In an M5 you don't have to pretend...Sometimes that makes all the difference.

All things considered, I'd rather have an (R)S6. 8)

I think new beemers just have a really bad image in Norway cuz only suits, seniors and drug dealers drive them. As for Evos, I think I've only seen like 3 or 4 of them over here... and for some reason I like the WRX better again :p
