To those who incessantly complain about each episode of Fifth Gear:
Are you strapped down in a chair and forced to watch these episodes?
There is something called an "off" switch. Try using it.

Sorry but I'm getting weary of people complaining about the same exact things every week:
- I hate the presenters.
- I hate the format of the show.
- Vicki can't drive because she's not attractive any more.
- The show isn't a carbon copy of Top Gear so it sucks.

If you can't bear to watch it, you have a choice to turn it off.

Perfect or not, this new series of Fifth Gear is really coming together well.
Tom's review of the Flying Spur was loads more informative (and entertaining) than James May's.

And I enjoyed watching Tiff at his best--in a 24 hour endurance race. After all, that is where he made his name in racing.
I think Tiff made a good point about the CCR. The car just seems to be engineered to be the "fastest" and nothing else. Even Jezza complained about its difficult handling. You can't blame Koenigsegg for not being able to make a car to handle as well as a McLaren. They are in two completely different leagues!

Jason Plato's choice of a 944 was really stupid IMO. The car was over budget and would cost a fortune for those who actually buy ?8.000 to repair/maintain. I can't blame him though. Out of those three choices, I would have swallowed the cost of ownership and got the Porsche too.

I'm also getting tired of hearing people complain that Vicki can't drive.
You are really pushing me to write an email to them to set up a challenge.

Koenigsegg CC8S had also clutch problem few years ago in Gumball 3000, repair guys fixed it. So maybe its the weak point.

But its NOT slow on track, it does old 20km long Nurburgring in 7.34(cold track).
From "real" production cars only Carrera GT has gone faster.7.28
SLR McLaren does it in 7.40 and rumour is that Zonda F is half second faster than Carrera GT but its not confirmed.

And people should forget that Mclaren F1 car, does it even pass same emission levels like Koenigsegg?(with its patented catalyzer.)

You're dead right.

The Koenigsegg does handle... Just check out the Clarkson DVD in which they had sorted it out. However Clarkson might not be the most knowledgable when it comes to those small little characteristics of the car. Nonetheless, he said that it was a vast improvement since the car had been showcased on Top Gear.

QFT!!!!!

-Don't like the show, don't watch it!
-Unattractive not equal to can't drive!
-What was wrong with the 24h race lasting also into the night? 24h = day + night!

Btw, I'm also not surprised by the breakdown of the koenigsegg. A guy ran the gumball 2 years ago in the states with it, and it kept braking down.

WHY DO YOU EVEN WATCH FG IN THE FIRST PLACE?

We watch FG because there isn't anything else to watch till Top Gear comes on air.

I am sure we all hope FG will do better given the time, but I have to say, it get's more dissapointing as the episodes go.

The best bit of this weeks show has got to be the Bently bit.

The $8000 car thing is such a TG challenge rip off, one they didn't even do correctly.

The endurance race was okay, can't really complain there.

The CCR, well....what can I say? If it was the TG team, they would do a PROPER full review whether the car worked or failed on the day or not.

TG will get it fixed or replaced to make sure they get a review for us.

And that is why TG >>>>>>>>>>> FG.

Well, to those who dislike those of us who compare and complain about FG, there's the "IGNORE" option.

I liked the ep. The Koenigsegg was an embarrassment, not FG's fault.

McLaren > all

anyone got a torrent up yet ?
Hard to tune in to BBC when I'm in Australia !! :(

Try the main page mate. ;)

If you dont like it and complain about it all the time then sod off.

From the looks of how the CCR handle true the corners it was obivus that it had serious problems.

Just finished watching the ep. My thoughts:
- Flying Spur review was alot better than James May's, I'm really starting to like that dudes (is his name Tom?) style of reporting. Very relaxed.
- CCR. Disappointing and certainly NOT FG's fault. It did indeed look very unsettled on the few corners we got to see.
- Bike vs WhateverIDontCare. Bit of fun but seeing the control that bloke had over the bike was awesome.
- 24hr race. Fantastic. Great to watch and after seeing that, it is clear that Vicki IS a good driver.

But still, TG > FG ;)

Oh, that was certainly an AU smashed up around the 35min mark.

I think i liked May's review of the Bentley better than Tom Ford's.
But Tom is a good TG-style presenter.

Both reviews were pretty damn good, but in different ways.

May's was dignified, and very upper class ponce ish. Just like a bentley.... supposedly. Then when he got out of town, he turned into a hooligan.... well as hooligan as May gets.

Ford's was more encompassing, and looked more at the bentley's image - which is where top gear concentrates on (down to earth board etc) Plus there was top gear style "lets do something in an odd way to prove the effectiveness of what the car sets out to do" (Aygo football [I sooo fucking want to play that], mother's testing the car etc) and there you had the drag race, the "cool" test, and the get past a vip entrance with no pass.

Only a couple problems with ford. 1, his voice is a little annoying and 2. his presenting is different from his writing. Unlike Clarkson and may who you can hear speaking when you read their work.

oh yeah... I now understand where the wookiee nickname comes from

Good, I wasn't the only one to see it too then lol. Saw if briefly and was like wtf is THAT doing there??

I didn't think the episode was toooo bad. Not the best, but still enjoyable to watch, even if it was only for Tiff rant and the bloke sliding the bike round the corners

For me this was the first really good episode to come out of Fifth Gear in a very long time. Tom's review was great, so was Jason's part on the used cars-much better that that stupid competitions that they do on Top Gear, and the racing part- that was absolutelly good stuff. After all they finally made an episode that is on equal level with Top Gear.

Great episode... I bet the same people who come here and complain about every episode of Fifth Gear sucking are the same people who flamed me that one time I found some fault in some segment in some Top Gear episode.

Stop being fucking fanboys... it was a good show. So what if it's not Top Gear? Watch them both, or just watch Top Gear. It's not as if they took away Top Gear and said you must settle for Fifth Gear.

Alhough Tiff is too blind with the McLaren... I think Clarkson is a lot more open minded about it.
