Car(s)
s13 and a beater daily
I bought an Infiniti G37x about two weeks ago to replace my beater Buick. I have had beaters pretty much my entire life and while I don't mind wrenching, at the end of the day it's still a beater. My work has treated me well that I was able to save a little and I bought this cash. It's a 2009 with 71k on the clock but you could never tell. I did buy it from a dealership after many failed attempts from private sellers, but I feel the agreed price was quite fair. Since I payed cash and they weren't going to make money off financing, the salesman was honest and told me it was the end of the month and the car was on the lot for a while, they needed it gone.

The car is fully loaded with the exception of GPS and backup camera. I picked this car for a few reasons. First, I am a Nissan fanboy having four 240sx's and currently owing my highly modified one. Second, I needed some space. I am 6'6" and 250lbs, not exactly small. The coupe was definitely more of a snug fit and with the sun roof which I wanted, it was a no go. I also occasionally haul around the big wigs from work, I used to borrow cars for that but they pay me well to not look like look like someone who drives a beater.

The car is pretty quick. I decided that I will not buy a car slower than the beater Buick with headers, smaller pulley and a tune; I would guess somewhere around 14.50 in the quarter. The G according to magazines in 13.50. It definitely lacks the torque of the GS, but top end is much stronger.

I already pulled the steering wheel and replaced the trim. What a pita to replace a junk trim piece. Also a bonus pic of the 240.

I checked out a manual sedan and was not sold, the clutch was pretty light but it was quite numb. I have a 350z clutch in the 240 and it provides much more feedback. I have my other personal reasons why I chose auto even though the 7 speed auto isn't flawless, which is my biggest complaint with the car.

The fun has already begun...

These parts just came in today, i got out of work and threw the intakes on real quick. I'm playing in a golf outing tomorrow, I think the exhaust will wait until Sunday if the weather holds out. I indulged in a few IPAs while working so all I can tell you is the car sounds good with the intake, but no real testing done. The intakes were pretty close but took some grinding and bending on the mounting tabs to fit semi correctly. I still think the passenger side sits lower than the drivers side which is something I'll probably never be bothered to fix.

Sweet hot air intakes. :p

But seriously, aren't you worried that while the stock intake was more restrictive, it presumably pulled in colder, fresher air?

I could really care less since this is my daily, I have the 240 that I have to worry about heat soak when I track it. I'll probably build heat shields at some point but the ducting from the factory intake is still in place so it's not as bad as you might think. I will be driving this car through winter and am not willing to do a cold air for 7 months of the year when it requires pulling the bumper.

I feel like David Freiburger, I always wear flip flops when minor wrenching, socks only hold me back.

This is the big wigs I work with, not worthy of being called bigwigs.

Congrats on the upgrade to your daily! Very clean looking, and I'm sure it'll be a nice, comfy drive for years to come.
