Someone Else's Problem: 1000lbs. Lighter! 1987 Mercury Colony Park

Is it the little "clonk" after it starts? because that means it's indeed a direct drive starter. It's one of the two reasons I haven't gone gear reduction on the Impala...the other being that the original (probably still the 1979 unit for all I know) starter still seems perfectly good at doing its job.

Nah, the motor noise.

Did a 220mi loop because I couldn’t sleep this morning. Managed about 22mpg at 70mph.

Front passenger power window crapped out. FedEx seemingly lost the motor in shipping for a few days, today it seems they found it and deliver on a Sunday.

Passenger power window came, was a pain in the ass to do. The following day today my butt muscles are sore from sitting on the ground working the motor in and holding the screws…

By the way, the freaking Chilton’s book says to drill into the door… why wasn’t that a factory thing? How did they get the motor in there?

It was assembled before the door was on the car. The car often gets in the way when you need to repair it.

*Dumpster dives furiously*

And so the chapter closes. Somebody else’s problem now.
