what is that instrumental song that was played a few times in the polar episode? I'm sure i've heard it on a movie before or something?

cheers

The tune used a few times when the map was showed and other times is Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna.

Also used was E.S. Posthumus - Ebla

Towards the end there was Immediate Music - Lacrimosa.

Pretty sure these are correct.

Some good music used :)

There was also a brief burst of one of the themes from the Train scene in Back to the Future Part III - I think it was "Point of No Return (The Train Part III)" by Alan Silvestri.

Can't give timings though, sorry.

You were correct about the E.S. Posthumus music... they used a lot of it in this ep, and it kicks ass. :D Here's a more complete list of what I can find:

39:28 - 39:48 - E.S. Posthumus - Menouthis
39:51 - 40:43 - E.S. Posthumus - Lepcis Magna
40:52 - 41:17 - E.S. Posthumus - Nineveh
48:05 - 48:24 - E.S. Posthumus - Ebla

33:29 - 33:46 - ? (15.MP3)
41:30 - 41:44 - ? (18.MP3)

These two are the same I think. Definitly the music from the film "The Thing"

Soundtrack on Amazon (Linky) is by Ennio Morricone which surprised me as it sounds nothing like his other stuff I have. Even bigger surprise that it's almost 65 dollers !! Quite rare these days.

Not sure which track they are yet. Don't have enough time to go through them at the mo.

"Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna"

Used that in a World War II Educational CD-ROM project I done in uni...Epic, would be a word to describe it well I think - and thus is very suiting for this episode due to their epic journey (both car and dog). Pretty good choice of music throughout this episode imo.

38:11 -> 38:33 is:

Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place

The title track off his second album - something near and dear to my heart, so I just had to come here and make sure that you guys knew what it was :D

12:00 - 12:45 -> "George Fenton - Hunting Dog" from the "Planet Earth" soundtrack

Guys this is an awesome forum!
Keep up the great work.

What's Winter Overture? the song is called Summer Overture.....

EDIT:
Ok well I just figuered out what the hell is going on with this song...Kindqa long to put it here so let's just say going here makes it all very clear.

Personally i think that's one of the best pieces of music ever composed.
