In this week?s edition of Five?s motoring show, Jason Plato hits the road on another Fifth Gear carbuying challenge. The best selling car in the UK right now is the ?8,990 Ford Fiesta Style. But is it possible to find something far more exciting within that budget ? a supercar perhaps? Jason has just one day to find out and to stop him returning with a wreck, there is a further catch: he must sell the car for a profit in a future programme.

Tom Ford drives the new Volvo C30 hatchback. Renowned for their practicality, build quality and safety, the Swedish car maker is not generally recognised for its appreciation of style. But all that could change with the C30. Tom delivers his verdict on whether Volvo has finally built a groovy car.

Elsewhere in the programme, Tiff Needell goes all green. The Lotus Exige 265E is a bio-ethanol car, which means it runs on fuel largely made from crops like corn and wheat. Vehicles like this could save the planet from global warming, but Tiff has another question on his mind ? can a sports car still be fun when it gets its power from Mother Nature?

Also this week, Vicki Butler-Henderson revisits a classic movie scene. The film Goldfinger features one of the most famous Bond stunts ever ? the ejector seat sequence where the intrepid spy hoofs a baddie through the roof of his Aston Martin DB5. With the aid of a 1988 Mercedes and a very unfortunate dummy, Vicki attempts to recreate the stunt over forty years after the original.

Remaining on the Bond theme, ?Casino Royale? is this year?s must-see box office event, featuring the all new Bond, Daniel Craig. A few months ago, Fifth Gear was granted exclusive access to the set in Prague as cast and crew filmed the actual casino scenes. Today?s programme provides a sneak preview of Bond?s new supercar in action ? the Aston Martin DBS.

The last time Jason a challange where he had to buy a car at auction and sell it for a profit in one-day, it made the episode a disaster. I would have thought that Fifth Gear would have learned from that. Well their back for another time. Fingers crossed it's better than the last time they tried.

I look forward to Tom's review of the new C30. I quite like the look of the car and want to know if it's as good as it looks. Tom's the man for the job!

buying a supercar on an economy car budget...
top gear did the whole bond theme in the past, Fifth Gear did too.
Exige and C30 will be good though

Hmm, the Top Gear old car challenges are normally more fun. The last time Plato went to auction, it was a little stilted.

I'm keen to see the Bond behind the scenes - not the Aston, but the famous Mondeo product placement ;)

It's also kind of a rip off of the 10k Supercar challenge from TopGear, which was epic. So it looks like they're shooting for somewhere in between, in typical FifthGear mediocrity fashion.

I hope it's a good clip with Tiff, he needs more airtime:blowup:

hmm well, i remember jason bought a ford puma in the last series or maybe it was the one before that one, and i dont recall what he did with it. im not sure if i saw all the shows from that series but to me it seemed like they just dropped it and never came back to it

ugh and the ejector seat stunt

TG already done that when they made a bond car on the cheap (i think it was in the very first series, where it was JC, hammond and big fat jason)
