Sure, there are some cars on the road more bonkers than the Lamborghini Murcielago. But not many. After all, how do you best over 570 horsepower driving all four wheels? Well, how about nearly doubling the output and channeling it all through half the wheel count? That's exactly what Heffner Performance has done with its twin-turbo upgrade for the aging raging bull. By bolting on a set of turbochargers, the Sarasota, Florida-based tuning garage has boosted the corral up to 1,100 horsepower, all driving through the rear wheels.

As you can see from the photos in the high-res image gallery below and the pair of videos after the jump, the craftsmanship looks flawless. But it's the acceleration that really boggles the mind. With that much power channeled through two wheels, we don't want to ask about the standstill sprint to 60 mph, but Heffner's given us a hint at the twin-turbo Murci's in-gear acceleration times, which is really what it all comes down to. A stock Murcielago can jump from 60 miles per hour up to 130 in 9.5 seconds. Pretty impressive, but that's just for reference. The Heff? 5.1 seconds. In 90-degree heat. With "only" 950 horsepower dialed in. With all 1,100, Heffner figures she'll do it in less than four.

This is so full of WIN

*laughing hysterically* If I planned to commit suicide, I'd very much like to use that for the task.

wow, it even has a rear bumper!

that's a first on a twin turbo gallardo

Why did they switch it to RWD, though? I would guess the AWD system not being able to handle the power and them not being able to upgrade it...

Why did they switch it to RWD, though?[...]
Prob to lighten the front end of the car so it can lift off at 240mph and flip over ... or to fill the market-gap as widowmaker the RWD 911 Turbos left open since the 90ies ...

edit: but I DO like the madness about this ... I don?t want to make it sound like I dislike the efford or the car ... but I guess we all agree that it?s quite a mad thing to do ...

Why do all those TT Lambirghinis have no engine covers (and bumpers sometimes)? Would it be that hard to make something out of fiberglass? Or is it for cooling purposes?

Of course they have bumpers and engine covers on when they are driving. When taking pictures they take the covers off to show the chromed *bling* boost pipes & turbos, etc. It's promo material:)

I was going to make a neat metaphor here, but I think it'll suffice to say that the original Lambo is like a good porn flick. You won't want to spend your whole day driving it, but at least the daily rat race will seem like a distant memory for that moment you kick down and the massive acceleration hits you in the back while you take off the motorway ramp.

Now this uber-Lambo thing. Try 2 girls 1 cup. Sure the mechanics look great in pictures, but the whole idea makes me sick.

I don't know about you, but to me this is a lot more appealing than 2 girls 1 cup:

Lamborghinis are supposed to be mad, remember..?;)

The mileage it covers in the video is about all the mileage you can do between drivetrain replacements...

I love how nuts it is, but really. How often is that thing going to break? Often.

Which is why we don't own them, idiots on the internet do :D Honestly, no-one with even a bit of sanity would first buy a 300k?+ car (here atleast) and then dump atleast 100k? more on it, voiding the warranty in the process. You'd need to be stupidly rich to run one of those cars, which is part of the appeal imo.

Doesn't sound like a Lambo should, but boy does it go! :woot:
