The RS6 bit, I know there's a lot of dam's there, but i'm pretty sure, that was Verzasca dam. (the Goldeneye dam.)

Hammond shoulda been driving a DBS, that segment was pure Bond.

again during the news section they showed the image and cut away =( i wonder what the image could ebe ?
anybody have a dvd recorder so they can get the repeat on there pc and zoom in ?

Yes, i've gone there, i've given it a 10... (would have been 9.6 so I rounded...)

I was somewhat worried that the reduction in cocking about could have a negative impact, but it was never the less a great hour of car based entertainment.

To be honest I was most impressed that the maths for the stunt man bit was actually correct :p

Much better episode. The non-film segments are still really different somehow, and usually not very funny :(

The bit that made me think, when JC said what this show is all about is driving proper cars on awesome roads (or words to that effect!), then why dont they do that more often instead of doing stupid shit like the stunts and comparing the fuel economy of a hybrid with an M3!

OMG - Wonderful, brilliant. ... And the cool wall. ...

That Audi V10 was probably worth a 9 any how. ...

Mercedes review was one of the best bits of TV I have seen in a very long time.

So a 10 from me. . ..

Great Episode but Hammond was so wrong about Aston's.

Good to have TG going back to it's roots there, well sort of anyway. Epic cinematography though, especially in the MB Black part, really captured the feeling that there is when you just go out for a drive, early in the morning and you are the only one on the road.

2 things though, first, I'm kinda getting a bit tired of all the stuff on the TG test track, it does get repetitive with all the sideways stuff, and secondly, I'm wanting more less expensive cars shown, sort of for the same reason as with the track stuff but also for that 'cheap thrills' feeling too, normal everyday stuff, but with that epic cinematography.

Stunt man again, good, had a feeling it was going to be that stunt though when it was mentioned somewhere he was going to recreate a famous film stunt.

Enjoyable tonight, though the Top Gear stuntman segment still fell a bit flat for me, and in no way did I believe for a minute that it was Jeremy power sliding that Evo! Loved the CLK Black segment.

I gave it a 9. Still not convinced about TGSM... but other than that it was great. The Evo/Impreza review was entertaining with all the tech joking, and I really enjoyed the RS6 bit. The race was reminiscent of Jeremy's RS4 one. The Merc segment was fantastic though. One of those great TG moments where the choice of music and filming styles just fit so well that you can really feel you're there in the car with Jezza creeping out of London at 4am! And what a car - the sound of it! Will have to add it onto the lotterylist(tm) :)

i couldnt tell, but which ever dam it was my mates are jumping off that dam out of the bond film doing a bungee jump! theyre mad

oh yeah.... good ep 9/10

the "rally fans" bit was hilarious, especially at the end when all the "fans" are just sprawled about the scenery at random and theres a broken hand on the windshield of the scooby.

no suprises that the evo won, its the car id have as well, i think subaru shoulda stuck the 2.0 liter engine in that thing like the jap version. the evo also looks better, though what was shown of the interior looked well out of date, especially the swtich gear.... scooby got the upper hand there IMO.

i liked the TGSM bit, this segment was more filled out and seemed to have more purpose (ie recreating a stunt that is rarely attempted and is also a damn great stunt was much better than what last week seemed like a cobbled together after thought for the sake of doing a stunt)... also had some very familiar mathematics/mechanics which pleased the engineer in me :)

despite being done many times before in TG, the car vs some men segment was entertaining and the review seems to go a little against other reviews of the car.

Loved it!
The Impreza vs Evo was good covered the cars quite well. Audi race was awesome, I still love that RS6 because its just so mad! The race was actually quite interesting, sometimes the race feels like quite pointless but I found it to add an interesting element to it. The jump was a bit silly, but it was short so its ok.

Thank god the cool wall is back, oh how I've missed it, not happy about the Astons been uncool! Stars were ok, but I am a Spooks fan so I might have found it more interesting than others. the Merc review was great, lovely shots, lovely sounds, lovely car. Lets hope for a few more episodes like that, might not appeal to the mass public but it appeals to me.

While i didn't enjoy this episode as much as last weeks since it was more car review than cocking about.
Enjoyed the Subaru Imprezza and Mitsubishi Evo 10 review having recently attended Japfest at Castle Coombe. I was surprised that Clarkson preferred the Evo to the Subaru but still enjoyed it.
The race i thought was going to be typical top gear fare but after the music from 'the bourne identity/supremacy/ultimatum' started pumping i grew to like it more.
Glad to see the return of the cool wall and i was curious how Hammond could claim all Aston Martins as cool but if Wayne Rooney has one, well then Hammond might not be telling porky pies.
The last review i enjoyed, in part because it began with music from Mogwai but also because it felt like Clarkson really was just going for a morning drive.

The only thing that i was unsure about was the news. The other week i saw the cut news material on the top gear website and noticed that some of the items that had been cut from that episode turned up in this one (even down to Clarkson's remark about that car that May referred to ceasing production. Don't remember its name) also that joke about the internet picture was funny last week but if its going to be repeatedly mentioned then the joke will soon fall flat.

7/10 average top gear... definately wasn't ambitious but definately wasn't rubbish either.

A huuuuuuuuggggggeeeeee improvement over last week. Impreza v Evo was a good solid normal comparison test. Stunt man was actually quite impressive this week. I was hugely impressed that they got it so close. Guests were fine and didn't drag too much. The CLK review was epic and one of my favourite reviews ever, probably the best since series 7.
It was knocked down to an 8 due to the RS6 review. It was exciting and all but I never got any real sense of what Hammond thought about the car. It basically was lacking the "review" part of a car review.

I'm glad the News section is more back to normal. For a while last series and the series before, James May was just comic relief and wouldn't actually say anything except something embarrassing rather randomly, and it just sounded so scripted. But now it sounds like a proper convo and James is back to actually talking about cars again.

Great show tonight. Thought i wouldn't like it without the cocking about, but it was great. Reminded me of the 2003 series.

With regards to the Dam, I am almost certain its the Dam near Tignes in the French Alps. Right next door to Val D'isere. The reason I am so certain is when you rewatch the episode again, you will see the avalanche tunnels which protect the road to the right hand side (Covered by snow in this photo)

Much better. The "rally spectator test" sort of thing was exactly what was missing from the ferrari review in the last episode.

However, the studio banter is touching very close to being read from a script wholesale. Especially when I get the odd hint of deja vu from seeing something in the news that I saw in the news uncut.

Fucking spain are one - nil up. I like them more, but I've a few quid riding on the germans.
