Ain't gonna lie, was pretty bored. Hopefully when i watch the download it'll be better.

Number two: I LIKE MR SULU

...no, seriously, it is. Can anyone shed any light on who this Mr Sulu is? Have I missed something in the news or on Strictly Come Sequins recently?

Oh, my.

You're pretty close with that Sequins remark.

This season is a lot better than the last few. Good test with the bmw & lexus, a nice segment with a classic car, good news/studio bits which seem less forced than a year ago... All good, apart from the dull bus race, but that was kept short so I don't care.

Just wondering about clarkson's sense of cool. The scirocco?? It's the civic for people who prefer bratwurst to rice. Not cool.

Anybody else who noticed this? :wicked::wicked:

Loved this episode so 10 from me. :)

Liked the BMW, not too keen on the Lexus, I think Alan Partridge has ruined it for me liking Lexus. :p The news was ok, can't remember what they were talking about for most of it though. The Bus racing testing was utter GENIUS.

SIARPC. Loved it. 2 of my favourite tv blokes on tv, and it provided probably one of the best SIARPC segments on TG, proper car banter. Grand Designs is a great programme, need to find out when it is back on.....hmmm.

Cool Wall, agree with the Volvo completely.

Daytona....hmmm, I'm not a Ferrari person, in fact I despise them but I think I've fallen in love slightly.

Why has nobody pointed out so far that Mr Sulu aka Geroge Takei is not only in "I'm a Washed Up Hasbeen/Vacuous Wanabee Get Me a Contract with Max Clifford" but he is also gay?

EDIT: I only pointed this out because in the past remarks have been made by Jezza to the effect that Hammond and May could be gay and maybe they are insinuating the Stig might have similar leanings for comedic purposes. I couldn't give a stuff about people's sexuality personally it's their own business, but someone appeared to think I was gay-bashing or making an issue of it and decided the above was worthy of a neg rep. I'm a live and let live kind of guy, with the exception of trolls and Daily Mail readers.

I'll vote and comment on this episode tomorrow.

^ Sulu from Star Trek is in the Jungle with the vague celebs.
That'll be why I've never heard of him. I've never watched Star Trek or I'm Not A Celebrity, Get Me On TV Now.

Sorry, did I not just say that?
It is possible, given the times, he'd already hit "Reply" before your post went up, so don't put this down as a genuine "D'oh!" moment just yet.

But that Ferrari, it just looks like a Rover SD. It's a horrible piece of junk.
More correctly, and I'm fairly sure this was mentioned in a previous TG (such as the one celebrating the Rover 3.5-litre V8 engine), the SD1 was designed to look like a Daytona. You appear to be implying that the Daytona was negatively influenced by a repmobile that was launched eight years later...?

Great episode. Although... i can not find anything beautiful about that Ferrari.

8 out of 10
good episode with a good balance of cars and cocking around. Enjoyed the car review and the news. Clarkson's remark about the internet and it deciphering Stig's morse code was good and made me smile.
The SIARPC was actually surprisingly interesting, during this point my attention usually wanders and i'll do something else or check out the birds in the background (on that note i did notice that there was a bird with blue hair who kept appearing in the background). My brother is a big fan of Grand Designs and after i told him of his time he refused to believe me.
The Bus race was a lot of fun and even though it doesn't have anything remotely attatched to car reviews it was still a lot of fun and that i've never seen a double decker do a two wheelie before. almost beats what Roger Moore's bond did in Live and Let Die.
The Cool Wall remains always fun with the show and Clarkson made me laugh with the American Girl and his comments "welcome to the colonies, you can't be american... your not fat." wasn't sure about the Volvo but again each to their own.
Finally the race, i was almost wincing along with James May during ever bump in that boat and i was thinking that there was no way he could continue that race without some kind of injury. The Ferrari Daytona was a gorgeous car and the noise it made in those tunnels... pure pornography.
Great Episode and continues a great run in this series. Already looking forward to next sunday now. Ah well, there's still Dave.

really felt like classic oldskool topgear so a steady 9.
oh and, who is going to be the one to decrypt the morsecode? if jc asks us, me should do it, shouldnt we? :p

That poor American girl :p Imagine yourself in that position in front of a several million people audience :p

Right you are, Mr Clarkson.
Number one: TOO MANY GEARS
Number two: I LIKE MR SULU
...no, seriously, it is.

It was also said in British Leyland video when Clarkson arrived in sd1 ;)
That'll be the one I was thinking of. Given that it actually featured an SD1, rather than just its engine...

EDIT: [10x07], barely a minute and a half into the episode and Jezza proudly declares the design ethos of his SD1.

A very nicely rounded out episode. Something for everyone.

This was the 100th episode, was it not?

Really enjoyed the M3/ISF review with some good production and JC on form. Maybe it would have benefitted from a third car involved, but I don't mind that there wasn't. A good opener for the show. Start with an 8.

The news was funny this week, although that 'and I found this' clip has been doing the rounds on car forums for months. Still 8.

The Cool Wall was fun but went on a bit. Less silliness with the audience and a couple more cars on the board maybe. Down to 7.

The bus racing was OK with some good LOL moments, but I must be getting old as I find some of these pointless features tiresome. Drop to a 6, although if they'd included some facts about how many 12 tonne buses driving along at 6mpg often only have 2-3 people on them, and thus are a green hypocrisy I'd have maintained the 7.

SIARPC was excellent this week. Kevin McCloud was a superb guest and was there for the right reasons, a love of cars. Genuine, personable, intelligent, funny and enthusiastic. I remember spotting his Cerbera in the background on many editions of Grand Designs, which I have watched avidly since it began. Back up 2 to an 8.

The race. Hmmm ! Love the car, loved the film work, loved the beautiful location. Just couldn't get my head around 'why ?' Why was it even filmed ? Fair enough, the car is 40 years old, but why then race it against a boat ? I suppose they've covered Miura's recently so a vintage group test or challenge with the Daytona's couterparts mightn't have worked, but nor did this for me. They've been knocked the Hell out of on powerboats before (SLR race) and the whole segment was a rehash of that really. Drops back to a 7.

Overall, slightly above average and a kind 7 from me. I was going to drop to 6 but resisted as they are moving in the right direction, just let's have more cars please.

puffy dad, new york hilton, james's shoes (or "sheos",as Kelly Bundy would put it),powersliding the bus(I think that the person powersliding the white bus at the end was The Stig),Range Rover submarine,Hammond 38,much better than a Max Mosley party

The race between car and boat lacked...Jeremy.It looked like a presentation, whereas Clarkson would have turned it into an adventure. It lacked the "savoir faire"of Jeremy:he has a certain way of making things sound interesting and this is the reason why I watch every documentary and show he presents.
This made me realize that,if the big man were to leave the show, Top Gear will not be Top anymore;perhaps just Middle Gear or 6th Gear because it's still better than 5th Gear(muhuhuhaha-Dr.Evil would be proud !).

I liked it, although i was rather relaxed and don't remember why. I'm happy they seem to still be enthusiastic about the program.

Thanks TG team!

Anyone got a link to that Range Rover video ?

Loved the episode, 10/10. The Cool Wall segment was epic, the Race was great.
