7/10 for me. Pretty good episode. GT-R review wasn't going to be what I expected, since Plato mentioned it was the first GT-R in the UK way ahead of the launch date, so I'd expected Nissan to tighten the reigns on what he could do with the car.

(Must make more money to buy one when it comes out in the U.S. :w00t:)

Decent bits for the rest of the show - camper van segment was cool. Not sure about an RS6 wagon, but nearly 600hp :burnrubber: :)

I wish that they'd have had Tiff review the GTR instead of Jason... Near the end, he started going on about the cars problems and foibles, almost giving it another negative review as typical for Baked Potato. The review of the most interesting car to come out for some time turns out to be one of Fifth Gear's biggest let downs.

This is actually better than Plato's review

Well in fact I don't know if you noticed but the GT-R shown was exactly the same one from the CAR Magazine video review (http://forums.finalgear.com/automotive-news/beetle-evolution-turbo-vs-godzilla-25411/). It was the imported GT-R from that guy who bought it so it wasn't a lent one from Nissan themselves. That's probably the reason why that segment was so short and it didn't really show what the car was capabale of. They probably were too scared of wrecking someone's private car.

About the rest of the show, I loved the Camper van segment because I'm planning to go on a camper van holiday this summer and it really gave me a good vibe about them.

The RS6 was simply soft-porn. They teased you with all what the car had but they didn't show what it was REALLY capable of. And what was that of Audi telling Tiff not to do powerslides  But overall that car is awesome.

The rest was OK. I give it a 8.

I quited like it, the shout out was ok, Camper Van was quite interesting and funny, even though I'm more of a hotel person ;)

Like the majority I thought the GT-R review was too short, I wanted to see more, maybe compare it to some of its rivals, but as everyone has been saying it was properly an import and therefore someone's private car - no doubt we'll see a proper review when it hits the UK (or when TG are in Japen)

RS6 was good, I've always loved Audi RS/S cars and the RS6 is just utterly awesome, pity there was no side-ways fun

I gave it 7/10

Did anyone else notice this when the Laguna hit the tree.

Why hello there Mr. Airbag
I've never seen it blow up like that before.

Oooo, I did not notice that. Interesting note...if such a segment was done like Plato's, I'd strongly (but politely) ask him to take extra special care of the car if I was the one who imported it.

I stand corrected in my original post. :)

2 things to note: Those old VW vans are leg decapitators in accidents, and what's with the outdated cd-based nav system on the newer van? Get with it VW. Not to mention VW gets the crappy nav systems as well compared to the Audi RNS.

The best parts should have been the Audi and the GTR, but they seemed like they rushed through those without giving much information. I assume the GTR wasn't allowed off the track. They should have had a comparison test with a Scuderia or something.

Yeah, I wondered about that small fire from the airbag as well. Maybe it wasn't the airbag?

The airbags aren't filled from cannisters of compressed air, because it's too slow. They use a compound which, when activated (i don't know the firing process), gives off a large amount of gas in an instant, which fill the bag. It's literally a controlled explosion, that's what you see in that pic. Usually you don't see that in car crash tests, because it's instantaneous, but here they used a super slomo cam, which captured it nicely.

Yep, it's literally an explosion in your face, hence the fire.

He thanks for posting Viper007bond, that's my blog :)

The R35 belongs to my friend Ben Linney, so he got me the pictures form behind the scene

I think it was a pretty good episode. Okay, the review of the GT-R and the RS6 was to short. Especially the RS6-review, because they could do a dogfight with the M5 Touring.

About the airbag: it glows because there's a reaction with Sodium, which gives the typical orange colour. It's not just air being decompressed (that would be too slow to save a person).

Ha, did anyone notice that song TG uses(ex. bridge scene from "supercars to bridge") ALL the time during the GT-R review?

hay there Pharoahe

looked on your blog, have you got a bigger pic of the the car with the sunset behind
it would make a cool wallpaper

I think he's referring to the third pic, from the GT-R R35 Fifth Gear Shoot. the one in the Dusk an the sky all orange ;)

I'm interested in that one too :p

As others already said: every segment was good, but not great.
I confess I was really hoping the Fiat 500 to win the comparison :).
My only nitpicks: the GT-R and the RS6 reviews were a little pointless. There was nothing new in it!
On a side note, the R33 is my favorite "Skyline".
