Someone Else's Problem: 14ft of sensibleness...? My '11 VW Eos

Passed 10000km in my hands today all is well.

Pretty much exactly a year later it's 25000km in my hands, all is still well although the front tyres are quite worn by now... I should probably do a mid-season rotation front-to-rear so I can comfortably make them last the rest of the summer.
100 days and 5200km left on the service-interval-o-meter, should be a perfect hit on early November, two years after its last service... oil is still near the max, with just a small cup of refill after Norway.

don't swap the tires!
grippy front end and loose rear end on a FWD car is a recipe for disaster...

I'm aware of the effect in principle, the rears aren't bald yet though. In the dry there should be no difference whatsoever, and I'm extra careful around standing water anyway.
Without swapping, the fronts would wear below legal limits before it's time for winter rubber. In the rear they'll last long enough, barely any wear in the rear.

Interval-o-meter update 36 days later: 80 days, 2700km left :D might actually home in on a double-zero come November...

Perfect timing for the winter swap - anyone need 235/40R18 burnout victims? :burnrubber:

These aren't going back on in spring

27 days, 1700km... being back in the commute-by-bus shitty-weather trot means barely any driving :| still, with T?V expiring next month it's time to schedule ze next service!

No winter plain steel wheels for the winter tyres? :?

No, my winter alloys & tyres were part of the negotiation process when buying the car. Much easier for them to throw in the wheels than to lower the cash price by as much as it'd cost me to get winter wheels, and I don't mind that they were slightly used. Four new ones would be 900? from VW :? Plus, I can be sure they fit over the brakes - these do, but just barely.

Those look like winter alus to me. Nothing wrong with that...

Yup, VW Sima 16" wheels. Weird side story, I was just in for my HU & big service at VW on Friday and during the Dialogannahme the VW guy asked me if I had KBA ABE documentation for my wheels. For some reason VW sometimes puts a KBA number on the wheels making them aftermarket and technically requiring an ABE, and sometimes they don't making them OEM with no ABE required. I obviously have no such paperwork, and if I had met the HU person I'd just have pointed him towards the stack of Simas offered for sale at that very dealer one room next to my car being inspected

Ah, that's good.

They look nice as well, a bit too nice for the winter weather.

It's a nice change from the summer wheels:

Those would indeed be too nice for winter... but then plain steelies would look wrong as well. So wrong in fact that I can't find an example on google images  I did find this abomination though  did Ice buy an Eos recently? :hmm:

Now, that is truely horrible, yuk!

.. and the lowered back end suspension looks stupid and probably does nothing, except maybe make it hadle badly!

.... and, and the seats, aaaach!

:puke:

The Scirocco front looks surprisingly good on it. :|

Started giving the Eos it's send-off, with a two week alpine road trip no less :driving:

It'll be gone in about two months... Any takers? All is well

What's the plan for a replacement?
