That was just...wow. Incredible.
The series has had its ups and downs, but this one special just shows Top Gear at its best, and why we love it so much.
The boys being the boys, not walking stereotypes. Touches of humanity. Chunks of humour. Tons of risk, plenty pathos, gorgeous scenery, and genuine surprise. Bloody hell, that was excellent.
When people who have never seen Top Gear before want me to suggest an episode, I've shown them the Polar Special in the past. Now, I might just show them this. Stunning.
I can't wait to see the HD rip.

Gave it a 8/10 and not a 10 for one reason, actually one person only: Hammond.
Started that ongoing joke of pushing his car against the others and yell "sorry!", then him shouting "Aaaarrrgh", "Eeeeeh" "Ooooo" "Ohhhh" constantly and over(bad)acting on the insects thing, the coca leave thing, "inadvertently" leaving his car to roll down and I find it all irritating.
Other than that it was a pleasure but I still prefer the African adventure though.
The wittiest and funniest remark was made by May:
He swallows the viagra pill but it stays in his mouth, waits for Clarkson to give him water and quips: " I'm gonna get a massive neck if I don't have some of that (water)!" :lol:

Well, they managed to ruin a whole fucking season but managed to pull of an incredible special.
10/10 for me.
This was finally 3 friends having fun again they way we want it to see. Epic.

ON TOPIC:
So if they climbed higher than Europe's highest peak, does that mean their next challenge will be driving a Range Rover up Mt Blanc?
As usual the cinematography was superb, although to be fair they did have amazing scenery to work with!
Nice that they gave the JMB, HH, and JCAS gratuitous semi-nudity as well!

The beginning had a few bits that I felt scripted, although I thought the snake was genuine -- but then why would the camera be showing Hammond about to enter his car. Amazing that they cocked about until the next day...
The ending felt a lot solider, maybe they did start addressing the issue of "it's so fake" halfway through editing, making the last part a lot better than the first. I can't believe Hammond's car crashing was any way realistic though.
What I'd love to see is a "making of" (probably DVD) of this, it'd be full of all the unscripted moments, but they still had to drive across a jungle and a desert. Speaking of which, it would have been nice if they showed us the route they took, I want to see the landscape on Google Earth but I don't know where to look
