Wow, now I know what people watching Top Gear America feel like... basically seen it all before.
Prisioners.
"The Tortilla"
Poor Mexicans.
250 GTO. Are you watching this, Smoking Tyre?
"Schtick" :lol:
Thats old Stig... does Ben get paid? :D
Jezza stopping the Jag and getting out after the drift is awesome, needs gif.
"Because their houses are disgusting."
Stig almost shook Dickys hand.

Agreed. It felt familiar even though I haven't seen the Aussie take on it.

Edit: And yeah, they certainly ripped one into Mexicans. Hilarious, topped off a pretty great news segment.

Hmmm, unusually for Top Gear, I was disappointed - not really a good episode, especially given the subject matter they had to play with.

- They barely drove the 288 GTO (or gave any verdict on it)... (my favourite car ever!)
- Boris Becker wasn't a good guest
- The battle with the Australians was a great event, but they ruined it with the editing. They cut-it-down too much and missed all the best bits - watch the 90 minute version shown on Australian TV instead!

A little ho-hum for me- the Aussie stuff only really came to life during the race at the end.

Isn't new Stig tiny?

did anyone else hear jeremy say this in todays episode? or did my mind fabricate that.:p

News was good, interview OK (but then I'm a huge fan of BB so I'm biased) and I enjoyed Jeremy's car review. I really like the fact that he didn't like it because of all the electronics, which was the same conclusion that he came to when he reviewed another Ferrari (?Scud from 11x01, or 599 from 10x03 but I'm not sure). The Ashes left me cold - don't know whether it was because I've seen it before or whether it wasn't edited as well as the AUS version, but I didn't find it as funny as the TG AUS one. 5/10 - sorry guys!

Yes he did.
But he's a Python fan, so that's probably where he got it from

Having seen the australian version already, most of the novelty was gone.

But basically this was way better than last week's episode. Don't really understand the point of making prolongued fun of Mexicans.

The Ferrari segment was nice. I cannot belive that JC didn't drive the 250 GTO on camera. Insurance my arse! Where are your balls, Clarkson?

Well, if you've watched Clarkson's Italian Job dvd and the Ashes special of TG Australia there's nothing new to see here, i'm afraid

Only new interesting stuff: to see those glorious 250 and 288 GTO. Epic view

Poor Mexicans, they are very proud of their Mastretta (that's it's name). But anyway...

I can't give it more than a 6/10 this time. You can do better, chaps...

It wasn't badly edited I guess. They just didn't give it enough time to do it justice.

Can't comment on the Aus version since I haven't seen it, but if it's anything like the German challenge I think length is the main issue. I don't understand why TGUK don't give an entire episode, or at least 45 minutes of one, to these types of face-offs, especially since it was clear there was some good chemistry between the two sets of guys.

This episode is getting a 1 out of pure spite, due to my mate getting tickets from my former uni tutor, and I didn't, cos I'm not at uni anymore.

(Begrudgingly it was a canny episode, I remembered the xj220 transit from goodwood though)

They give too much length to these types of segments in my mind, I miss the days when two parters were the exception, rather than the norm. We got more of Jeremy being stuck in a shit car absolutely ripping it to pieces.

Better than the first episode?

Better than the first episode?

Yeah. But not by much.

Battle against the Aussies: started out great. But: It takes to know an enemy to get sympathy for destroying them. And this is what I missed, But first came...
The News: very enjoyable. Yes, predictive. Yes, penis jokes. But the gents seem to be enjoying to do it, and so the feeling flows over to me.
Ferrari GTO review: class act for Jeremy. To be fair, it was a rehash from the 599(?), which he also convicted to be a laptop rather than a car. But to see the pedigree... Yeah!
The Lap: Is it just me, or doesn't anyone care anymore unless a car a) (possibly) breaks the board or b) is so dead slow it should be humoured?
SIARPC: Boris was nice. German, but nice. Germans and Jeremy don't mix much, but Jeremy managed to keep it going in a nice flow. Thanks to Boris' endless media training, I suppose.
Battle against the Aussies part 2: See, this is where it goes wrong. I knew Sabine Schmitz when D-Motor took on Top Gear. So I could feel the sympathy and quality of her as a driver of the Ford on the Nurburgring. I don't know the three chaps from Australia. I didn't feel the sympathy. Nor was I given time or information to build it. What remains is an empty battle.

In conclusion: 8. Better than 16x01, but flawed by the rush in which 3 anonymous blokes were defeated in a competition they couldn't possibly win.

Almost worth a 10 for the 250 GTO alone (one of my favourite cars of all time and one of few Ferrari's I really like), however, I gave a 7 because I'd seen the TGUK Vs TGAU before. Granted it's my own fault for watching it but even first time around I wasn't exactly blown away by it.

With you on this, the face off took the first 20 mins and like the last 10-15. Bit too long for me, but it was a good watch, the aussie blokes really seem to get on well together and with JC, Hammond and May. I guess those who watched the TG: Oz version would of been a bit bored. But thats what you get for wanting to watch everything, it will repeat.

Anyway, GTO review was good if too short. Should of majored on the 288 a bit more because its epic. Boris Becker as the guest? Threw me off guard at the start because I was just like "oh dear, must of reached for the emergency guest button on the phone"... but by the end it turned out alright. Nice story about the 959 and nice time on the track and some good banter. News was hilarious. Queue angry mexicans/people with mexican friends/angry bitter people who exist to complain about TV these days/Daily Fail with some utter piece of Cod Shit about offending people.

Oh yeah, Transit van that goes like a stabbed rat. Ace. I thought they'd wheel out that tranny that Ford built which was basically an F1 car with a box on top, but the V6 from a Metro 6R4/Jag X220 is good enough.

Too bad they didn't keep the Goodwood decals on the side of the van... although I guess they removed them for additional sleeper value. That van makes regular appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

For those who don't know, that Transit was actually a rolling test bed for XJ220 chassis parts and running gear. It's now owned by Don Law Racing who specialise in restoring historic Jaguar racing cars and racing them in historic racing.

The UK vs AUS wasn't funny the first time either...

The Ferrari bit was enjoyable but a bit short.

SIARPC not very entertaining...

4/10

edit. The news was fun!

This. And the Ashes thing omitted lots of things that were in the Aus version.

i'm constantly surprised at those bitching how its a repeat because they have seen the Australia episode already.
just to remind people, Top Gear Australia doesn't air over here in England and as such there will have been those who will not know of it. if people have got a problem with it they should remember that Top Gear is produced for BBC UK and while its shown around the world, it is still primarily a british show.

people should remember that before they start ranting about how they feel ripped off.

I was laughing like a crazy person at the face Hammond made when he put his foot down in the XJ220 van, class.
