9 out of 10 here, seems like Top Gear got back to its roots with this episode, no cocking about, just straight auto pornography.

Great episode.

I mean, yeah, of course the Marauder piece was staged (How could it not be? He drove it through a wall and over two cars for Chrissakes.), but I think a lot of the reactions from the people on the street were genuine.

The 1M piece was good, but I'm not sure I really get the GTi connection. Sure, the GTi was faster than the sports cars of its day like the 1M, but it also wasn't twice the price of the average family hatchback either.

The Mini rally piece was great. It was great to see James having so much fun behind the wheel. Although I think they should have duplicated the original race by having Hammond ride on the skeleton with Amy.

And I loved the E-type bit. Towards the end, with the band playing "Jerusalem" and the Spitfires doing their flyby, I got a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat and was proud to be of English descent. And then the BRG E-type roadster wouldn't start and I almost pissed myself laughing. That was Top Gear at its best for me.

Overall, 9/10.

The fact there isn't that much to criticize it sums it up. If they keep this quality over the course of the series we may be back to series 7-12 quality
9/10

The rest of the show: surprisingly great. I just wished that Jezza had boosted Eagle a bit more. They are the experts at the E-Type, after all, so them doing their own version is big, despite the price.

There is a waiting list for the Speedster as it is, last I heard. The competing shops also have their hands full with restorations and restomods, so there's still tons of interest in a car that's 50 years old.

People still want E-Types. Ian Callum, are you listening?

Amy Williams is a hotty...

I think she distracted me well enough from the oversized Mini.

Oh my gosh, laughs at the front, tears at the end, and Alice Cooper in the middle with the traditionally wonderful production values throughout.

What more could you ask from any television program?

Obviously the best start for a series, perhaps ever, and certainly the best single episode in years.

So many, many, thanks to all who made it possible.

Oh yes.....10/10.

And now....I'm going to go and rewatch the Jaguar segment again.

Got goose bumps while e type part and I'm not British..
Totally agree, that UK patriotism got me all misty-eyed and I'm just a Yank. :)

Marauder smashing things to bits and Hummer explosion within the first 10 minutes? I have died and gone to heaven. XD

10/10

100%

One word "Awesome."

This episode is much more of what Petrolheads should and do want out of Top Gear. Well done, Top Gear team, you deserve it.

I don't know why I can't give it a 10, but it was damn close. That was a fantastic start to the series, hope the rest can live up to the standard that has been set.

I gave it a 8/10 good start but have to keep the ball rolling down hill for the next show.

Richards test was okay not great but, funny
Strange that the news did not talk about the new Lambo... lol Car porn
BMW M1 test was great.
Allice was fun
And the Jag was wonderful.

Overall a great show.. :)

Great episode. 9/10 because I didn't finish it. Might upgrade to 10/10 when I see the rest.

sidenote: To the people who don't know who Alice F^%$ing Cooper is, *shakes stick* get off mah lawn!.

and I wished James would have been allowed to talk to Kris because he's a generally interesting guy.

That was really my only complaint. I mean, it was decent TG humor with Clarkson and Amy but I thought it was a bit too far to completely cut out Kris altogether. I assume this stems from his only rally so far this year being a retirement, but I still think, as you said, he's an interesting guy and would have been great to talk to.

Other than that, solid episode. Of course the Marauder bit was staged, but still amusing. Great news, loved the 1M bit (and editing) and the end of the E-type film was golden.

And the E-type sound...

Although I think they should have duplicated the original race by having Hammond ride on the skeleton with Amy.

Uh...er....um how would that work? I mean, if you think what I think you think, then I think I should be the one to partake on that with Amy, not Hammond. :D

Epic. There is really no other word for it.
The Marauder was great, 1M was cool, when they first showed Amy my jaw dropped from the hotness.
Going into my favourites list.

A good solid 9/10 all previous post have covered what I could say about it, roll on next Sunday.

Could somebody tell me when this episode will be on BBC America?

PM me please, as I don't frequent this forum. Thanks

Never live in the past but always learn from it.

Jaguar can fire their ad agency. They will never get better publicity than that!

Is the M1 (is it M1 or 1M?) faster than a 335? It sure as hell costs a lot. It is most definitely not a car that crosses class barriers. Then again I never understood Britain's fascination with BMW.

I gave it an 8/10.

There were a bit too many fake "reactions" from the crowd during Hammonds test, and the 1M could have been tested out in the real world!
Still a great ep!!

I don't feel that all the reactions in the Marauder bit were fake. McDonald's and Wrecker crew were the only ones I saw.
