1998 C43 AMG, advice needed

Asking for a friend who is looking to buy a AMG, the car in question is a 1998, 150000km, service history for the first 70000, aesthetically very good condition, asking 10500euro.

I've read about the issues with the W202, does the same go for the AMG? Anything in particular to look out for?

I think they should come with service history for the latter half as well. And as for rust, the AMG cars seem to rust as badly as regular spec. See this UK car.

Anyway, an Italian-spec car could have survived with less rust, so it's not necessarily a killer here.

Yeah, I told him service history was very important, we'll see if the seller has a good explanation...

Rust is not an issue here. Is that basically the only worry, they don't have any known mechanical issues?

Rust, rust and rust. W202 is able to rust in ways not many other can.

From what I've read mechanically should be pretty solid and cheap to maintain IF nothing AMG special stuff goes. Basic mechanics are identical to W210 430, so service parts are humanely priced. Even the AMG parts are somewhat available used due to rust killing these way before technical issues.
