1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5L
Purchased a 1999 Subaru Liberty (a.k.a. Legacy) RX Bilstein Edition yesterday. It was advertised for $13990 and we ended up paying $13750. Got it at a wholesaler warehouse where they usually sell to dealerships so the price was bloody cheap!! One owner since new in completely stock condition (thank God) with 111,000kms on the clock, which is underaverage for a vehicle of this age + its a Subaru so it'll live forever. Full log books with recent service, its in brilliant condition for its age.

My first car - fuck I'm happy :D

Unfortunately, its not an estate with a manual like I wanted but this was sold at wholesale price with just one owner. Also, it was the Bilstein edition which was a limited build model which was built to say goodbye to the good ol' Gen 2 Liberty and so included the extra kit of Bilstein sport suspension, bigger 16" low profile tires with Bilstein wheels, Bilstein badging, leather seats and metallic paint.

Inside its got an awesome Momo steering wheel (which was standard back in the day), power windows/mirrors/aerial, climate/cruise control, CD/radio, cup/licence/sunglass holders, rear armrest with folding rear seats, woodgrain and really comfy leather seats. Pretty safe with dual airbags and ABS and obviously AWD.

Its looks pretty sexy too with the subtle yet sporty RX spec bodykit including rear spoiler and foglights. The Bilstein wheels look a tad aftermarket-ish but they suit the car.

The 2.5L boxer-4 sounds distinctively Subaru  It had 115KW (154BHP) when new and after driving it last night I think its more than enough power for me.

I am still on my learners until my 17th B-day (Jan 31st) at which point I'll be able to drive by myself on my Provisional 1 licence. So for the next month, it'll be spending most of the time in the garage with me cleaning up its interior and making that engine bay look sweet so when I begin to properly use it, it'll be in fine condition and something to be proud of.

Since its in the garage, I haven't been able to take any exterior shots and + I'm going to wash it and take some nicer snaps on x-mas. Here are two photos from the original advert:

Just brings up a link which goes to the imageshack homepage :?

Anyway, nice car for your first car. Drive safe.

Thanks for the comments guys.
$13990 to $13750? You suck at haggling. :hammer:
If you had bothered to read my essay long first post, you would have known that we payed wholesale price for it :p The cars market value is around $16,000 +

I was chatting to my father today and he said that I could probably drive this and sell it in 12 months and definately break-even, if not make a decent profit. I'm really happy with the price. For the money, I don't think I could have gotten a car with a better combo of power, looks, reliability and equipment. I really am satisfied with the purchase.

Oh and I almost forgot - here is a pic of it sitting all lonely in our garage and a pic of that lovely boxer engine :D

Because I saved the images on my hard drive, edited out the number plate and reshosted on ImageShack ;)

I'll be washing and then taking some nice snaps of it on x-mas and I'll be sure to post them :)

Because wagons are cool!

Its also something we'd like - something practical we can chuck the dog in without having to worry about cleaning up the rear seats afterward.

Those Gen2 Liberty wagons are hard to come by in my state. We found one (manual) 2-weeks ago and put a $1000 deposit on it. Later that night, we cancelled the cheque as:

1. the car had "no prior records" with the government motor authority (RTA)
2. Dealer wouldn't permit pre-purchase mechanical inspections (very unusual)
3. The motor organisation he claimed to be apart of, he simply wasn't.

So luckily we didn't buy what could have been some stolen, rebuilt, money oweing car. Here's a pic I took of it:

Certainly seemed like a good car and I would have preffered it but I'd rather be safe than sorry. There are many crooks out there....pfft....used car salesman - gotta watch out.

good descission mate! Happy hollidays...I'm checking out now!

haaaaazzzzzz

Sl65... about that wholesale thing, is it a specific site or did you find it on one of those used car sites?

What, you didn't get a Benz? :p

Fantastic car, looks especially good with those wheels.
