2000bhp viper

The dyno's top reading is 1500 hp, so i'm not entirely sure why they claim 2000 hp

quite impressive nonetheless

they claim 2000 crank hp, ie at the flywheel. those dyno read outs were at the rear wheels and the dyno maxed at 1500hp (nice flatline on the chart). looking at the charts that thing is easy making well above 1500rwhp, meaning it's probably quite comfortably over 2000hp mark at the flywheel

and doesnt it just sound so threatening? not a nice sound like a ferrari V8, but just a plain scary sound

It should be making well above 1500hp if they are claiming 2000 and the fly... If not thats gotta be the most inefficient drivetrain ever.

I've always thought the ballpark figure is something like 25% power loss in the drivetrain (and around 30% for an auto)

this shows the 260kw F6 Typhoon recording 200rwkw - a 23% power loss.

Edit: just read someone else quoting around the 17 - 18% for manuals, and 20 - 22% for autos

Well it sure didn't sound too good until it spooled up.

Ah, I remember v2 of this beast. That version at least had twin-turbos and kicked out 1000+ HP at the wheel IIRC.

If it lost 500HP from the flywheel to the rear wheels maybe they should take the parking break off!

You know. That absolutely flat line at exactly 1500 says to me that the dyno just won't register anything higher. But if you extrapolate the line, it comes out to about 1750 (like they said.)

12.5% drivetrain loss doesn't sound that far off, does it?

Pah. That's nothing. I've worked on trains that have 3000bhp :p LOL

Seriously though, that's a lot of power from a car engine!

With that setup, I'd have to agree. It comes to around 1750 and they say there is still more room to grow. Regardless, that much at the wheels would be...um. scary.

Not to mention pointless, but that?s just MY opinion....

agreed. A dyno queen if I ever saw one, lol.

Although I would like to see one of those british pencil sharpeners that clarkson was talking about put out that much power lol.

I just noticed it has tags on it. Definately would not like running into that car at a light

It has tags and horrid paintjob....anyway, 2000hp or not, I dont believe there?s a tire known to man grippy enough (street tire of course) to handle all that power... There?s probably a point where you?ll reach a plateau, and raising the power won?t make you faster
BUT, as always, I might be wrong

Thanks
All those animated avatars inspired me. I have the same slide from a different angle, do you want it?

Nah, its alright, I like my current one, its just fun watching the dude powerslide on his bike. Thanks for the offer!! :D
