^ Cars like that sort of annoy\bore me as well. It's great that they are able to get that much power out of an engine, but these recent tuned Maybach\Mercedes\Vollkswagen vehicles end up just being ego-pieces for the rich pricks of the world.
I have a lot more respect for small, light, understated, and most importantly cheap, purpose built performance cars - not big, bloated, status symbol luxury cruisers with supercar engines.
Hear, bloody, hear! My sentiments exactly.
If you were in my city, I'd buy you a beer, mate!

in my opinion that sounds like talk of someone jealous of these status symbols
. Nothing wrong with splurging on an excesive car even if you just go to point A and B. I mean comon'? Why buy suits as expensive as some peoples wardrobes? Why spend moeny on overpriced furniture, jewlery etc??
one simple answer, because they CAN and people like you and I cannot.
With regards to property and to a lesser extent expensive jewellery, they will only appreciate in value (I'm talking about obscenely large rocks), whereas, last time I checked , most cars seem to lose value from the moment they are driven out of the showroom.

Um, that?s exactly my point. Why spend money on status symbols? They do it just because they can... that's a pretty stupid reason to do anything.
A car such as that ridiculously Brabus Maybach serves no purpose whatsoever - no practical or even impractical purpose. ........
And what are cars that serve no purpose and cost ridiculous amounts of money? Pretentious ego-pieces for the rich pricks of the world.
Add to the fact that I doubt a single Maybach will be owner driven, rather the owner will be carted around by a chauffeur, what is the point?

and zenon, since when is being rich practical??
A maybach shows people your bank account and status as a successful person. It's a reward to themselves and to their pride in their accomplishments.
There are things you can do with wealth rather than squander it on ridiculous cars like the Brabus Maybach. Furthermore, the fact that people seem to think that there isn't anything better to do with wealth than spend it on ridiculously priced cars is quite disturbing. There are countless practical things wealthy people can do with their money, and there are countless weatlhy people out there that actually do practical things with their money.

no offense but it sounds like you envy or are jealous of the financial wealth of those "rich pricks".
I am honestly not jealous at all. I just strongly dislike cars (or any objects) that become purely status symobls. I also have a problem with wealthy people who get so lost in the elitism of being rich that they are willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on ridiculous ego-affirming status symbols.
If I had enough money to be able to afford a Maybach, I would be disgusted with myself if I bought one. If someone were to offer me a car such as the Maybach for free, I would not even take it - unless of course I could take the car and sell it right away (
). If I were purchasing an expensive car, I truely believe I would have an extremely difficult time justifying any car over $50,000.
I share a similar sentiment. If I could sell the Maybach, I'd accept one and then get rid of it for a proper driver's car.
I used to think that my old man was a big bore for not buying a Porsche 911 years ago when I was a kiddy. Now that I'm approaching the stage where I have to think ahead (read: family) I can see how I was wrong. Property (and gold) is one of the few things in this world that will always increase (sure it will have dips/lulls in the market but, is always on the ascendency).

Man i'v heard enough, u sound like a grandmother! i cant believe u just wrote that if someone offered u a maybach for free u would be disgusted to take it. i think its something personal between u and nice things
Rather, I think he has got more important priorities? Why retort to personal insults? That is not a very mature way of carrying on a conversation especially when faced with an opinion that differs to yours.

But wouldn't you rather spend the money (if you had it) on buying a rare, exotic supercar and not an ocean liner on wheels? :?
Or even a proper ocean liner or a Lear jet?
Another thing is the exclusivity, the Maybach can be purchased by entrepreneurs, royalty and even the local despot. If it was to be built on a very very limited number, then perhaps it would appear more enticing in my eyes, but as I said earlier, it is a car that will be driven by a chauffeur, not the owner.
