So I've finally done it. You may remember a thread a little while back (I wouldn't be surprised if you don't though) where I asked you all to help me decide which car to get next and after many months of deliberation and frustration I finally have one of those cars.

It was a little more than I initially wanted to spend but I'm pleased with it. Although I am very sad to see the little Zetec-S go; we had some good times.

All along I convinced myself I wanted a black one but when I went to look at this silver one I thought 'that's actually quite nice as well' plus the Fiesta was black and I was fed up with trying to keep it looking clean.

Anyway, here it is:

Thanks to everyone who voted and helped me make up my mind.

Best colour scheme. Great buy

How many miles has it done?

Nice! I preferred your Fiesta though :p

Yeah, I really loved that car but a) I can't afford to keep 2 cars at the moment and b) unfortunately it was on the way out, rust was really taking hold and there were some serious electrical gremlins. I can certainly see myself buying another in the future though alongside this or another car. It was so much fun and they are really quite cheap now.

How many miles has it done?

Just over 65,000.

indeed a nice ride... i looked at those when i was buying my car..

I'm quite used to Octavia I interior, seeing it mirrored like that feels weird :?

Anyway congrats on the purchase, though personally I'd go for a more interesting colour like red or yellow - silver Octavias are way too common sight around here.

Congrats!

Now do us all a favor and send that over to this side of the pond.

Thanks everyone! I'm really pleased with the car. :D

There are a few small issues, a couple of chips here and there and the badges (grille, bootlid, wheel centres) are beginning to fade/peel but their small things that aren't really noticeable but still bug me and are relatively cheap to put right.

Very nice car! Although, for the way it looks (the bodykit), I would have hoped for a little more power.

Are those wheels stock? They are very nice! Great looking car overall.

Nice car, that! Although I do prefer the Combi. And I don't understand why they didn't put a sixth gear in it.

Nice motor, I do like the Octavia. They feel very well built too, even my dad's lowly 1.9TDi estate is a pleasant place to be, even if our particular car lacks some of the features listed in the handbook!

They are some seriously smart wheels too. Hell if I decided I wanted a modern car probably I'd go for an Octavia (not that UK insurance would permit me! <_<)

Came very close to buying the wagon as HWFT's car 18 months ago but the one we saw was in red and it just didn't look right so she got the Civic Type S instead.

Good choice, great colour and barely run in.

Cheers guys.

I'm looking forward to having people slowing down and moving out of my way on the motorway because they think I'm an umarked police car, several people have told me to expect it already.

I am really missing the Fiesta though, it wasn't a proper old school hot hatch like a 205 GTI or Clio Williams but compared to the Octavia it was. The throttle, gearbox and steering where so tight and communicative, you could feel everything which made it so much fun to chuck about. You could tell exactly how fast you were going by listening to the sound of the engine and the road noise too, I keep looking down at the speedo and going 'oh crap, I'm doing nearly 50 in a 30 zone' or accidentally leaving it in 2nd or 3rd because when you're not giving it some it's so much quieter than what I'm used to, you can't really hear the engine. It'll just take some getting used to I suppose.

One thing I get excited about in a really childish way though is pressing the button to flick the key out from inside the actual keyfob as I walk up the car having pressed the button to unlock the doors. Makes me feel like a really low budget James Bond
