New Jag XK:

0-100 in 6.2seconds - Supercharged XKR would presumably be faster when subsiquently released

XK designed by the same bloke who did the DB9...obviously...but I dont care if they look the same. They'r both British mid-weight GT cars so they'r bound to share similarities.

IMHO, interior looks cramped, but then again its a rather cheap alternative to a DB9 so its all good!

That pic with the black interior, the console layout looks like its been lifted out of a 350Z

What do the rest of y'all think of it...I waay prefer the Advanced Lightweight Concept...

looks good but i know im gunna get flamed for this, but i think that design is getting old. everything is starting to look the same to me. im just sick of it :yucky:

Well *I* like so it :tease:
Good but this would be a $200K car here in Aus  You really think its got appeal?

HyundaiCoupe front, and Mercedes CLS in the rear...not very classy.
Yes it looks like a Hyundai Tiburon from the front and yes I can see shades of CLS in the rear. Obviously the CLS-ish lights suit the CLS itself...I thought the rear looked American though.

6.2seconds is slow now. give me something under 5s
Yeh its slower than we expected eh...the supercharged version should be sweet though and even more so in convertible setup!

That design (especially inside) is getting quite old I gotta say aswell...Jag wont let go of that 'traditional' style of luxury inside their cars eh?

change the front bumper to something less ugly.
too much overfender at front wheel
the back is just OK
front light make it look cheap

n yes, the tiburon front line :yucky:

still prefer the old XK

I like that car!
Sure the front doesnt look perfect, but that is for pedestrian safety.
Does anyone know where the U-shaped gear lever is gone? I always loved that :(

Here's a small matchstick flame. :D
Most cars today look similar to each other due to necessity. All major car companies do extensive aerodynamic research and they all come to the same conclusion on what works best for a road car. This is why the shapes of today's cars are becoming very similar to each other!

If you look back to the 60's and 70's, you'll see a lot more variety in car design. My 240Z may look very aerodynamic and slick, but the fact is that it has the drag coefficient of a brick. It was designed for pure style with no emphasis on function. Today, there's a bigger emphasis on function and a lesser emphasis on style.

I think the new XJ has the smooth lines than roundness that reminds me of the old E-type. It's a very easy car to look at. It has nothing harsh or "bling" about it. It just looks very unassuming, but also elegant.

I really want to buy my mom one! She loves Jags to death.

I like it...

I'm pretty sure I read that it uses the same aluminium tub chassis that Lotus Elise uses... so I suppose with a bit of strip out and a bit of carbon fibre bodywork it could be VERY fast

it's a shame jaguar uses a V6s & V8s now rather than the inline format of the XK6 engine - 4.2L XK6 in a Mk1 E-Type is possibly the best looking engine bay of any car ever built :D

unfortunately I think Jaguar got more conservative as Lyons got older, and with no heir, it didn't get the youthful revitalisation that would have made it more appealing....

then British Leyland and Ford took turns in sodomising the brand :x  *some vivid imagery look away :p* yes, rectal penetration can produce offspring it seems aka X-Type but when you give birth through your anus everything gets covered in shit  :bangin: lol, I should get some sleep...

The current XKR looks better in my opinion, it'll take a little time for this to grow on me.

This demands a repost:

IMO, every other Jag coupe since the E-type has been ugly....XJ-S still looks dull in my eyes, and this is just the next one after the stunning XK8. Or will this get better with time, as Clarkson suggested?

That does come up a lot, but I'm sure the designer, Ian Callum, was going for something a little more sexier...

The front is underwhelming, but I think everything back of the A-Pillar is gorgeous. It looks nothing like the CLS, and even if it does the CLS isn't that bad of a car to start from. I see no similarities between the console and the 350Z, none whatsoever. :|

The front is ugly. The back and the interior on the other hand
