2007 Ford Shelby GT500 to Start at $43,000

Am i the only one thinking that the Mustang without the extra lights from the GT is an EXTREMELY ugly car.

And I do really like the GT.

Yes, yes you are.

New stang's appeal sorta wears off. They hardly change anything visually with each Mustang model.. The design just seems a bit boring and lazy.

Anyways, the GT500 is extremely heavy. Supposedly the base Vette is faster (yet 100 less hp), weighs less, has IRS, avoids the gas guzzler tax (in the US, i don't know if it's the same for other countries?) and is around the same price as the GT500.

there's no real reason to get a GT500

That is ugly. The mound on the bonnet is just all wrong.

I am just waiting for someone to complain about the interior.

Well you can see the cheap shiny plastic with the sun reflecting off it on this pic.

I don't know why but it looks like the car is sad , like if it was about to cry.
I get this impression when I look at the front of this car
Nevertheless I think its great especially for the price!

read c&d and they say it's not a good performer, simply because it's far too heavy.

No, the car is built for drag racing, nothing else. What I want to know is what has ford got that's putting 500 bhp? I know the supercharged 5.4 in the GT has 550, but that's hand built and I don't see them hand build engines for a car under $50K. Maybe they nicked one of the V10's from their pickups.

I'd be more interested in the GT350, if it ever gets made. If they follow the originals, that'll be built to corner.

I know, I was kidding anyway. Just a prelude to a flamewar...

The GT500 gets 500hp from the same supercharged DOHC 5.4 liter Triton V8 that's found in the F-150 Lightning (except that's a SOHC 2-valve), and the GT as well. Difference is, the GT produces 550hp using a different type of supercharger (Lysom twin-screw) while the GT500 uses a Roots-type.

So it's got a massive truck engine, cheap interior, and a wood cart suspension. Our European friends are going to have a field day with this. :p

5.4 liters is not a massive truck engine, 8 liters is massive. Small correction, I believe the SOHC heads now have 3 valves per cylinder.

those rims suck. th3e rest of the car doesnt seem bad at all. You guys sure do know how to make cheap cars.

I bet it still gets around the track pretty quick, unless they lame out and dont track test it like they did with the Ford Lightning. (I am not thinking the Lightning would have been anywhere near the top, but I bet it would do better than most think.)

I like it
I dont care about the crappy interior, or the fact that it's to heavy, it's just a damn cool car.
But if I had $43,000 to spend on a car, I probably wouldnt get the 'stang.
