Force India has confirmed that it will launch its first Formula 1 car in Mumbai on February 7.
The team, formerly known as Spyker before it was bought by Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya last winter, is expected to base its 2008 challenger on its current chassis albeit with significant aerodynamic developments.
According to Reuters the car will then run for the first time at the final Barcelona test prior to the start of the season on February 25.
Italian veteran Giancarlo Fisichella, who has signed to race alongside Adrian Sutil in Force India, already believes that the revitalised team is making progress under the guidance of technical director Mike Gascoyne.
According to the 35-year-old Roman, the team can realistically expect to move away from the back of the grid, based on his own findings in testing at Valenica this week.
?Even with lots of fuel and scrubbed tyres we were closer to the other teams ? it would have been interesting to see how close we got ? but we are definitely making progress and going in the right direction," he said.
?I?m pleased with how it?s going.?
