2008 Ford Taurus

Needs more wood.

Could you get one without the huge ugly chrome bars on the front?

I have no idea why Ford US does that, but it looks awful. I bet it's not even metal, just painted plastic.

Unfortunantly, they only come with those ugly chrome plated plastic grilles. Most of the NA market Fords have them now and I wish they'd go to a grille more like the Euro/Aussie market cars.

IMO, the Five Hundred was a better looking car.

I understand why Ford is doing the three bar grill on its cars (it's a design synergy type of thing, so if someone doesn't see the blue oval they'll still know it's a Ford) but I don't understand why it has to be so damn FUGLY!

Hey, where's the moisture strip and the little ribbed bit that gently lifts the hairs away from the face? :p

All joking aside, I think that, on the outside, it looks like quite a handsome family sedan. I'm not a big fan of the interior though: the green gauges remind me of late eighties/early nineties Fords, and not in a good way.

It looks like a Transit Connect

Thats where aftermarket grilles come in.

Somehow, they manage to take a European interior design and make mistakes copying it? How can this be, problems with the copy machine? :p

On the outside, it looks decent except those chrome trim bits round the fog lamps and the grill, which is a tad over-the-top. It just leaves me a bit cold, really. Should be fine, so long as it isn't assembled by idiots and the panels fit together and line up properly.

Perhaps the blandness can be countered by being good to drive. I doubt that's likely, though, due to the American car maker's penchant to cheapen every single part down to the nearest penny.

And before jetsetter busts a nut trying to refute my post, I'm not being serious. This is my style, get over it. :p

Rehosted a few:

Doesn't look that great, specially the front, reminds me of that useless looking Ford Edge they released here

This is a realy ugly-ass car...who buys this kind of crap...I would even choose an hyundai or Kia over this...

I'm not overwhelmed by this car, but then again I'm not underwhelmed, since I wasn't exactly expecting much.

This is the first car that leaves me...whelmed.

It looks much better than what I was expecting. Kill the wood and you'd even have a decent interior. It'll sell as long as it's not priced ambitiously.

Did they try and copy a Rover 75 with all the fake wood and the lovely clock in the centre?

It looks like the style the mid-2000s British Fords went with for about a year, stopped making edge design like the Focus and Puma and instead went for softer designs like the Fusion and C-Max.

But over here it's changed back to the edge again, with the new S-Max and Mondeo. All the better for it. Does Ford America think their customers don't like stylish cars?

This won't be a competitor for a Camry at all. It's a ford. Maybe if we got cars like the new Mondeo (which looks much better than any ford model in the States save the GT) or if we got the Focus ST.
