2010 Paris Motor Show: Opel GTC Paris Concept

Unsurprisingly, scientific research have shown that increased visibility of motor vehicles increases road safety, regardless of the exterior light conditions.

If I can see cars just fine, like for instance, in the day light, I don't turn on my lights. If it starts to get dark or it's raining or the nuclear freeze, I turn my lights on to aid with visibility. Are people in Europe to thick to turn the lights on when the visibility drops?

Noooooo, safer for other road users.

It has been proven many times, that even in clear daylight a car with lights on is easier to see and detect by the human eye, a phenomenon I have personally noticed many times. Light hitting your eye simply catches your attention way faster than a moving object.

Any car driving around without lights sticks out like a sore thumb, because it takes much longer for my eyes to realize it's there than when it's properly illuminated. Which is exactly what the scientific research into the subject have found to be true, hence the law.

Besides from that, DRL's are way more convenient than having to turn on and off your lights by hand.

New shots of the exterior and now we get to see the interior as well! Also it'll be 290 horsies.

I especially like the quirk in the door, the seats and the rims. Doesnt look very conceptish either to me, looks production (save for the rims). Waaaaaaay better than the ST Concept (which looks like a clay Dodge Caliber that has been mashed by a toddler).

IMHO if they are trying to raise the brand profile here in the UK they should ditch the Vauxhall moniker and stick with Opel. Their product has been so dreary and shite until very recently that they could really shake that here and compete on level terms with Ford and trounce Peugeot but for the low rent rep they have here.

Since Canada has been doing DRLs for crazy long, I'm actually quite fond of the things at this point. You can see vehicles from further away, which is great if you've got to pass really big things like semis filled with cows in a small Honda with an earth shattering 50 HP.

290 horses should be plenty. I doubt it'll be just as pin sharp as the Focus RS, handlingwise. But we'll see...

I rather say they safed money on designing the Dash itself. (Same story with the Golf Plus and the Tiguan, they also share the dash, and so does Passat and Passat CC)

I must say I love the looks and I would buy such a thing if it ain't as damn heavy as the new Astra and doesn't understeer like other performance Opels.

That is not a Golf VI, it's a facelifted Golf V interior. The VI has the buttons for the window opening in an upright position next to the door handles.

To stand correct, the Scirocco has the same interior as the Eos. Yes, it's quite similar to the Golf but the Eos/Scirocco interior is slightly different. More mature and sophisticated than the Opel GTC I'd say.
