2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread

...well, see ya all next season.

In the meantime, I'll be rooting for Boston and/or whatever team the Flyers face next...

[EDIT] Boston is going to game 7. I'll definitely tune-in for that.

Boston seems to love game sevens. Go Boston.

Fuck Boston.

I'm not a butthurt Canucks fan who said that

I don't hate the Devils for sweeping the Red Wings in the SCF in 95. It is just the way it goes.

Exciting game in Boston. Looking forward to Game 7! And that's all she wrote for the Canucks! Great goaltending in both ends though. Could've gone either way!

I personally hope the following teams win in the East: Senators, Capitals, and Florida. Not because I like those teams, but because then the Capitals will face Philly in the second round, and nothing's funnier than watching two goon squads go at it.

Apparently Jakob Silfverberg will be on Senators bench tonight.
That guy is on a wild ride atm... :p

i'm a little confused here, i think i remember several pens getting suspended, pulling hair, starting fights, then losing in the first round...yet philly is the goon squad?

How many Flyers' games have you watched? They're very sneaky at doing things, which is why they often get away with it (much to the dismay of everyone else). The biggest problem with the Flyers is that they never admit when they are wrong.

The Pens, on the other hand, try to avoid doing stupid things, but when tempers flare that tends to go out the window in a not-so-subtle way.

I've watched every Flyers game. I'm in no way saying they're angels, but c'mon, to say they get away with stuff is silly. They had the most penalty minutes of any team in both the regular season and the post season. The fact that your Pens had an identity crisis and shot themselves in the foot is your problem. You can't say the Pens didn't goon it up this round. The majority of the stupid penalties were taken by the Pens. The cheap shots, the late hits, retaliatory penalties, the Pens fell into it all as well. The Flyers capitalized on the Pens' stupidity, but the Pens didn't. That's on them.

Nice, that's Chicago done. Now for Boston to get beaten by Washington and I won't feel quite as bad after LA beat us up, misery loves company and all that jazz

On the Vancouver goalies....would there actually be any other teams who would want Luongo if Cory gets the nod for starter? I'm not saying he's bad as when he's on form, he's amazing, it's just that there are times when you go "is this the night where he lets 3mph shots with no screens get by him?" :|

I just don't get the hate on Boston from Vancouver fans. It really explains a lot about the riots last year.

It would be real easy for me to hate the Devils for winning in 95(the Wings had just won a record 62 games that season and looked like a lock for winning), or the Preds for the first round win this year, which could also be the last time that Lidstrom appears as a Red Wing. The only time I have had hate for a team was after the incident with Lemieux and Draper in 96. But it was really against Lemieux. I rather liked Joe Sakic.

You mean, the Preds are important enough to have feelings against in Red Wing country now? Give me a minute, I've got dust in my eye...

:p

I have always respected the Preds. They have always come to play and not made it easy for the Wings.

Nothing to do with me liking Vancouver; I don't like hugely dominant teams, simple as that. Chicago thumped everyone in the 90's in the NBA and the Pats did the same in the 00's with the NFL :p

The Cup though seems to be much tougher to win many times in a short span of time though :D

I was making a reference to the fact Nashville fans like to think they have a rivalry with Detroit. Up until recently there hasn't been any real rivalry besides the normal divisional foes.

There is a bit of a rivalry. It is rather young and slightly one sided, but it is there. ;)

Start of the game sevens....

Got to love the playoffs. (a little less when your fav team is out, but still much love)
