2012 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix

Fred's best drive? That has to be up there

Yay for Alonso, Perez and rain! Good race.

Has a lot to do with the shitty attitude. I like McLaren and Lotus but I don't whine when they door poorly like Cellos or hold them above everyone else like mpicco.

Anyway, "the Scuderia" is funny because you're inserting an Italian word in an English phrase like it belongs. It just sounds really arrogant.

Shitty attitude hm. Seems that 'wanting them to win' means 'hold them above everyone else' to you. You get pissed by shitty attitude, I get pissed by hypocrisy and people who just don't read everything you post, just the things that are remotely praising Ferrari, put them out of context, and take that as a free ticket to label you as a mindless fanboy.

I think it's very interesting mid field. Ferrari, Mercedes, Williams, Toro Rosso and Force India all seem to show about the same pace.
Don't think a "big guys get it all" sort of show would be good for the sport. Right now I think Red Bull could pump almost unlimited money into their team, more than Ferrari or McLaren.
Anyway I'm glad the McLarens are 1-2 and I'm hoping everyone else drop the fucking steppy noses.

Just to quote a few. But yeah my fanboyism, Scuderia Ferrari religion like mindless praising, and Marlboro smoking, so obvious and exploitable hm?

I completely agree to this. I usually also like to see the underdog win.

it's nice to see one win from time to time, but basically underdogs are just there to fill the pack

i want the top dogs see fight it out, and see them fail one by one, until only one remains! the champion! that is what sport is about!

The one race that I genuinely fall asleep in and the top 10 completely rearranges itself. DAM DAM DAM. I read on the official F1 site that it was practically Canada 2011 all over again.

Fantastic stuff from Alonso and of course Perez. I want to see Button's crash however, mclaren really lost out on this race.

What is this I hear about Vettel's gearbox issue and driving through checkered flags?

Grats to Alonso and Ferrari. Think Massa is happy with 15th as he was happy with qualifying 16th? I love the guy, be he needs to get it together. In his defense, the car is shit this year.

I felt really sorry for the Mercedes drivers. Really thought they might put up a good fight in the wet, but they were actually going backwards pretty quickly once the race got re-started. Nico must have been despondent being overtaken ROUND THE OUTSIDE by cars that should have been slower than him.

My only theory here is that the "top" teams must have some sort of complicated aero that doesn't work very well once the pace drops off. Even the Red Bulls and McLarens looked slow against Perez's Sauber-Ferrari (he reeled off fastest lap after fastest lap in that chase to Alonso), but as the track started to dry (and their aero started working again?) they began to regain their pace, with the McMerc and RB cars finally retaking their place at the top of the fastest lap boards.

Seems they can't really take advantage of their front wing F duct since they can't keep themselves within 1 second of the last car that overtook. Since DRS works all the time during quali, they're very good there. But that car is chewing tyres like there's no tomorrow...

Perez and Senna were still pretty high up in the fastest lap classification in the end:

That was a great race! I had set my DVR to record it but with the race running late, I didn't get the last 3rd. Had to wait for it to be rerun again. *shakes fist *

Rain, dry, rain, dry, sorta raining, then sorta dry, not raining but the track soaking wet...then one of the drivers calling in and saying it was raining...just on turn 4! I was half expecting them to put slicks on one side of the car, and intermediates on the other at one point. :p When they changed to slicks at the last minute and then it started to sprinkle again, I could just imagine the pit crews screaming at the sky.

Even though I'm more of a Red Bull and McLaren fan, Alonso and Perez raced their asses off and deserved their wins. Good job them. :)

Also...Maldonado is having terrible luck. Two DNF's already?

Great race, but why does F1 even bother to have full wet tires anymore?
It seems to me that 95% of the time when it rains, it's either raining slow enough for intermediates, or it's raining so hard that the SC has to come out.

Also, pro DVR tip: set the recording end time of live sporting events to at least 90 minutes past the scheduled end.

FIA set a 4hrs max length of a race for 2012

I want to see Checo on the podium more!

Well done Ferrari, class win, the team played the situation extremely well.

Hamilton needs to get his act together.

Fantastic race, nearly fucking spoiled it for myself though because I'm a dumb-ass.

What a race!
If someone bet on Alonso winning and Perez second they'd come up with a pretty decent amount of money.

the McMerc and RB cars finally retaking their place at the top of the fastest lap boards.
Fastest lap went to Kimi I think.

I hear that. It's really annoying to hear teams say they should go to inters while they're still behind the safety car. Just pull the bloody thing in and let them drive on the wets and deal with the conditions. Wet racing is not for everybody, you certainly find out who can cut it (generally Button) and who cant (Massa) but this trundling around until the track is almost dry is stupid and boring.
