16mm longer and 3mm lower than the CLS coupe.

CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY 204CV
CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY 265CV
CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY 306CV
CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY 408CV

Imo, the way the roof- and windowline diverge towards the rear makes it look really stupid.

Not a fan of Mercs but that's rather smart.

So it's an estate for people who don't want a big boot. Makes sense...

So it's an estate for people who don't have a foul-reeking, wet, muddy dog and can afford someone else to do their DIY. Makes sense...

FTFY

So the point of this car is what? Being "the first coupe- 4 door- estate" ?

This will be just a case of paying more money for less practicallity, and looks which are not as good as this:

The CLS is a gorgeous car, but that shooting brake rear looks just so fat.

I'd take the Audi. Best looking, best interior, great sounding 3.0 BiTDi with good economy.

It looks a bit like a concept car doesn't it?

Want.

YES! :D I knew they will do it! :) Now I shall crush my plans to buy an new A6 and buy one of these!

Where does the term "shooting brake" come from? And why?

Where does the term "shooting brake" come from? And why?

I believe shooting brakes were early estate cars in the 1920s or so designed for the landed gentry to take their parties on shooting escapades, or breaks in the countryside. Hence the term, shooting brake.

This website agrees.

I love this, it's really beautiful. As for the point compared to a regular E-Class wagon? I'm guessing just style, same as all those 4 door coupes. The rear wood floor is a nice touch.

Love the wood floor. That's what I wanna do with my RX-7

It looks so damn great. I just love sexy unpractical wagons :)

If this was a Buick (and if it was an American car, it'd be a Buick), I'd love it. But since it's a Mercedes, I loathe it.

Is that real wood in the back? If it is, that's a classy touch. Easily-scratched, but classy nonetheless.
