about time for this thread, no?

Mercedes found another trick in theirs sleeves! (see13s in)

they pull the steering wheel to change the toe of the front wheels

And they claim that the FIA is okay with it. Congrats to Mercedes on winning the championship again this year. Ugh.

and it's been outlawed for 2021

a new technical article added for next year:
The re-alignment of the steered wheels, as defined by the position of the inboard attachment of the relevant suspensions members that remain a fixed distance from each other, must be uniquely defined by a monotonic function of the rotational position of a single steering wheel.

so the others probably won't even try to copy it anymore...

In consultation with our international partners and the Kingdom’s national health Taskforce, Bahrain has made the decision to hold this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix as a participants-only event.

As an F1 host nation, balancing the welfare of supporters and race goers is a tremendous responsibility. Given the continued spread of Covid-19 globally, convening a major sporting event, which is open to the public and allows thousands of international travellers and local fans to interact in close proximity would not be the right thing to do at the present time. But to ensure that neither the sport, nor its global supporter base, is unduly impacted, the race weekend itself will still go ahead as a televised event.

Bahrain’s own early actions to prevent, identify and isolate cases of individuals with Covid-19 has been extremely successful to date. The approach has involved rapid, proactive measures, identifying those affected by the virus, of which the overwhelming majority of cases relate to those travelling into the country by air. Aggressive social distancing measures have further increased the effectiveness of preventing the virus’ spread, something that would clearly be near impossible to maintain were the race to have proceeded as originally planned.

We know how disappointed many will be by this news, especially for those planning to travel to the event, which has become a cornerstone event of the international F1 calendar, but safety has to remain our utmost priority.

i'm just glad it's going ahead...

McLaren just withdrawed from the melbourne race after one of their mechanics tested positive for corona.
tomorrow morning a meeting will be held to determine if the race should go ahead or be scrapped completely

My money is on cancelled

i've read they're talking about cancelling everything up to holland, with even monaco in doubt
if the promotors, sponsors and tv channels refuse to pay for those, that will wreck havoc!

The millions of dollars developing the cars to not see them race once... that'll be something. If sponsors pull out cos what they want is logos on racing cars, a couple teams might go under

Forgot to post here. As an alternative, there was sim racing this weekend to take place of the Aussie gran prix. It wasn’t perfect but there was a young Dutchman and an F1 champions son playing. There’s planned to be more next weekend.

And the 2021 rules are now the 2022 rules, so not all development has been wasted in this years cars. Wonder what will that do for the Mercedes pull-the-wheel system, if other teams will try to copy.

what will that do for the concorde agreement?
there is none for next year!

will all the smaller teams just accept an extention of the current deal?

Sainz is confirmed at Ferrari and Ricciardo at McLaren!
Does this mean well get to see the hulk back in a Renault? I don't see any of the active drivers jump ship to Renault.
Or maybe they go fishing outside FA and give the seat to someone like wehrlein

Vettel's without a drive, but I doubt that's the last you see of him. He's properly quick. He used to dominate those Race of Champions where you get to see pro drivers going against each other in very different and spec cars.
